I have 73's on and it gets sideways pretty easily. I may switch over to 55's.

contrary to turbomustangs, one size does not fit all.

your whole combo dictates your gear.

fwiw, i run a 3.73 and nearly hit the rev limiter with 28" tires. i think its perfect for my combo till i plan to go even faster.

I always had 3.27's on a 28 inch tall tire. Remember turbos love to be loaded so the a 3.27 with help hold the car in its power band longer.

3.55 is the best overall down low and top end gear ratio in my opinion

3.27 in there with lotsa miles, but still work great. Have some new 3.31s that'll probably go in with the new diff.

Like most have said, a 3.27 or a 3.31, which ever is cheaper for you to get. Now if you had an automatic and/or a bigger motor then I'd maybe lean towards the 3.08s some have said. I would not do a 3.73 or 4.10 but maybe would consider a 3.55

I had 3.73, then went to 3.55. Had that in the car for a while. Now I'm running 3.27 in the car. This is with an AOD. Man, it really loafs down the highway in overdrive

If you are gonna race your car, you want the gear ratio that's gonna put the engine near redline going thru the traps in 4th gear. In my case with 3.55's and 26" slick, I go thru the traps at about 5900 rpm.

Yeah, but since he said it is street driven only, then none of that matters

I had 3.73's and that was way to much gear. I dropped back to the stock 3.08's which was perfect w/ the t-5 (3.35 first gear) Now that I've swapped to the t.56 (2.97 first gear) I'm kinda wishing I had a 3.27 or 3.31 as first gear is a little doggy. Not awful, just not sure how its gonna act at the drag strip.

On my stick single hifi car I ran 3:55's for a while at 400 to the wheels. Went to 3:08's and it was ok on the street. Then tried the 3:27's and I think they are close to perfect.

My other car has a incon kit with an AOD. 3:55's and a 26 tire I am not real happy so far. Trying a new TC soon and will know more but I think a 3:27 is in my future.

rob,

I will take it one step further, ones whole combo(regardless of power added selection) and their goals and preferences is what dictates what gear to go with. For example my brother has a HCI 93 GT that he drives daily and it has 3.73 gears in it and he can not stand those gears. Whether they are perfect for his car to go down the 1/4 or to street race or whatever else, they are far from perfect for him. If I was doing another fox body to be solely a street car with a turbo or even a supercharger, I would get a 3.27 or a 3.31, just simply because I prefer how those drive daily. My biggest concern would be how the car behaves for every day driving which is what 95% of its use would see. It would be silly for me to build a car for the other 5% of the time where I might be doing WOT blasts, racing someone or whatever else.

Of course my daily drive is what dictates all of that and I drive 70-120 miles every day and while a lot of that is on the freeway, the freeway sometimes is stop n go. When I had a car with 4.10 gears for that drive, I hated it. When I had a car with 3.73 gears for that drive, I did not really care for it. When I had a car with 3.55 gears for that drive, I had no complaints. When I had a car with 3.31 gears for that drive, I wondered why I ever dealt with the other gear ratios. The whole reason my gearing changed between them is because my first Fox Body had 3.55 gears and then I swapped the entire rear end and ended up with 3.73 gears which later I changed back to 3.55. Then my second Fox Body had 4.10 gears and then I swapped gears to 3.31s due to the price of them new at the time.

A lot of other people just care about how fast the car is and will live with any comprises they have to live with in order to get the most speed.

I had 3.27 and the were perfect for street and strip with a 26 inch tire on my combo. I broke the rear and pieced some stuff I had together. Now running 2.73s. These are horrible. Talk about loafing down the highway lol.

I got rid of the 73's and went with the 327's. Feels a lot better now. It still comes out hard and stays in the power band longer.

I went from 3.73's with my H/C/I Vortech setup to a 3.27 when I went to the BG kit.

Even with the blower I hated how useless 1st gear of the T-5 was with that much power and a 3.73 rear.

This was with running 275/40/17 rear tires which are around 25.75" tall or so.
