turbo tq ?'s

I am wondering if you guys can help me with whether or not I can create a turbo setup that will have similar low end power as a kenne bell would. I would be looking at a 302 or possibly a 306 with h/c/i and forged internals. Wondering what size and type (single/twin) of setup would be recommended to get as close as possible, and exactly how close it would be. It will be a street/strip car, more street than strip. Or do you guys think I should just go kb if that is what I want??

Turbos make more torque than hp in many cases. Look at millhouses thread for dyno numbers.

Hello used to live in York myself. Used a pair of turbo's off a Mercur (SP). They were sized for torq the mustang and tbird stuff was a bit bigger and sized more for HP. I still have a pair left with the water cooled bearing housings.

If you check out those dyno graphs, you can see the torque comes on wicked low. I use a pair of small IHI turbos from Tbirds. This is what I mean by low. Millhouse uses the middle size bird turbos, moovs uses the largest.

With the set up in my sig I had about 600 ft lbs at 3500 rpm and peaked and 4000 with 627 ft lbs. and never fell under 500 up to about 5700 rpm. which is where my hp #'s peaked at 545. I will try to get the dyno sheet posted too.

The low end of a turbo is what people try to copy with a s/c

I believe that the tq #'s might be higher earlier if the dyno pulls where started at a lower rpm, peak #'s won't change though.
next time I go to the dyno I'm going to start a run at 1000rpm just to see, hm......
