what combo for $6K

I have 6K or so.

I will have a forged 331 Dart block w/ TW heads that flow about 300/210.

I have a GT-40 upper and lower that I am just thinking about porting.

What turbo kit and supporting mods would I need to buy that I could do myself along with the help of a friend who is a prof wrench?

I will be putting this power to the ground through an auto and prob 3.27 gears.

90' Mustang Coupe is the car.

I want to have 450 rwhp and 550tq for everyday driving, but the potential for 600rwhp.

I'm thinking a 66mm turbo kit would do, but what will I need for everything?

Thanks in advance.

I'd definately get rid of that GT40 intake. Ported or not...

HPerformance sells a really nice kit. You can make the numbers you want with the stage 1 kit, which is a 60mm turbo. It's all jet-hot coated and mechanic friendly.

The GT-40 intake is essentially 'done' at about 5-5500 rpm if not sooner. You will make huge torque down low though. You could port the lower and put a box upper and that will help get a little more rpm for the t/w's to start working.

x3- With a good meter and 60# inj.

I was told to get a PT6676 Precision turbo upgrade on the base quicktime turbo kit.

A forged 4 bolt shortblock. TW heads, and Trick Flow intake. 2600 SCT ba MAF, 75mm tb, 42 or 60lb injectors depending on much power I want ( 450rwhp everyday tune, 575 rwhp max safe tune, so probably 60's )

I am concerned with the TCI Streetfighter Transmission. Should I pull it/sell it, and then get a Art Carr Street Terminator piece? 2600 stall be enough?

I will also get a LM-1 wide band and A/F guage for the column prob.

I had a question about the tune though? What piggy back system works good with the EEC-IV's? With the late model ECM's tuning is easy, but I have no experience with the older ECM's.

AEM, Tweecer? What provides the best tune?

Should I go electronic boost controller or just keep it to a spring and simple?

Thanks again.

It will become a bottle neck. You are trying to force air through a turbo to some big heads but inbetween you have a little intake. That will become a big restriction and cause the power to drop off fast.

Most will tell you to go with a Dart, MOW, or BOSS block. If you can afford it, DO IT! If you can't get ahold of a Mexican block or a Pre 75 block. A track heat intake would do alright. I wouldn't mess with the 2600, I got the 3000 and it drives amazing at my low power level and I won't max it out until 800ish rwhp. 60lb injectors, 42lbs max out around 550rwhp.

Take the car somewhere and have a tuner dyno tune the car. You could do a flip switch. The low boost setting on one tune and turn a nob and your other tune for higher boost would be there.

If I were you I would go with an electric boost controler. Mount your chip switch somewhere close so while you are driving you can turn onto the higher boost setting then dial in that boost on the EBC and BAM there you go. 100-200rwhp more on the fly. You would have people wondering if you just sprayed nitrous!

My car with the base Quicktime kit is putting down 444/480 hp/tq on 8lbs with a stock short block/gt-40 irons/cobra intake. Your motor should make way more than my setup.

It made 215/255 hp/tq before the turbo, I would recomend the Quicktime kit to anyone who wants a turbo kit for a mustang.
