Melting Clutch Cables

Got stranded one week ago, clutch cable was melted by the drivers side header which is an equal length Bassani on my Hellion kit. Replaced with a UPR Adjustale Cable today, I put it through the wrong hole on the clutch fork oops and ruined that. Called my boy up and he happened to have a BBK Cable in his trunk, went on smooth and drove about 5 miles to Kragen and noticed the plastic by the header was melted already and that it went through to the cable and now when the clucth releases it stutters, but it still drove fine. I bought some heat wrap and wrapped the clutch cable and now after driving 5 miles back home it will not go into gear anymore when the car is running, anyone else have issues like this and what the hell can I do, I am going to buy a new UPR Cable and heat wrap prior to the install and hope for the best, the BBK Cable felt awesome, almost like a Honda Clutch at first until it melted, and this is all on a UPR Triple Hook Quadrant.

Try using a clutch cable from a SN95 or newer mustang. My clutch cable melted also. The cable for the sn95 are about 8-12in longer(something like that). Gives you a little more cable to work with and the throw or pedal movement is the same.

I would assume by the driver side exhaust manifold where the clutch cable passes by hot side components.
