anyone running a cammed Explorer engine?
I have a spare Explorer engine I may throw in my race car rolling chassis. It will be another two years before I can build my serious engine (wife in school), but I have this engine that was in my Explorer somebody decided to run into and total. I am looking at just putting a mild cam in it (Comp XE270HR, 218/224, 270/276, .512/.512 on a 114 l/c) and a good set of springs, the building a 70mm turbo kit for it. My question is mainly about what kind of naturally aspirated power I should see. My guess would be around 300hp at the flywheel... it is basically a 93 Cobra engine with slightly more compression and cam. The Ford crate engine with GT40 heads was (under)rated at 285 with a B-cam and a similar intake, so I would think with better cam timing it would improve some. I saw where one person made 270 at the wheels with a manual trans and the same basic combo, which points more to 320-330hp. I am mainly needing this to choose A/R on the turbo and what wastegate spring to start with.
