Single vs dual exhaust

I have a single 3" downpipe and need exhaust.

Just looking for the pros and cons of dual and single exhaust setups.

Thanks

the velocity of a single will flow more. what size turbo are you running. you may need to step it up to a 3.5 from the dp to the back

thanks for your response

It is a t70, .68 exhaust housing.

The exhaust housing is kind of small to begin with, so I'm trying to limit backpressure as much as I can.

I would just run it open but I want to drive it on the street.

How would the car sound with the 3" DP to a 3" dynomax ultraflow and a dump before the rear axle? I'm guessing this is probably the closest thing I can get to the flow of my open downpipe.

what cube motor are you running? a 3" dp can flow a bunch of air. a .68 is kind of small. if you wanter to get the best flow i would open it up to 3.5" after the dp to a dynomax. it will sound good and give the least ammount of back pressure

Its a 302, trickflow TW heads, holley intake, 75mm TB.

I know the housing is kind of small, I'm going to give it a shot before I decide to step it up though. There are a few guys that have actually had some pretty good success with the housing.

If I did the 3.5" after the 3" to a 3.5" dynomax and a turndown. What is the sound going to be like? Will it be really loud? I dont want it too loud, I just want a nice tone.

Would Someone who didnt look under my car even be able to tell that it is single exhaust, or will it sound pretty much the same as duals?

thanks again for the help

turbo cars are actually quiet. i ran just an open dp and it sounded like i had turndowns. once you put a muffler on their it is going to be quiet until you get on it. some turbo cars at idle sound stock. try out the hosing. if you find it is too small or it chokes the turbo up top just change it out for a bigger one. the 3.5 is up to you, you could probably get away with just 3 due to you motor and turbo size but it wouldnt hurt if you did a 3.5.

I'm running single 3.5" downpipe split to 2 3" race bullet mufflers w/ 3" tailpipes. No idea on how it sounds, since I'm not finished yet.

I have twins but to give you an idea it had single 3" over axle..
Then when it was turbo'd it had 3" dumps on each side to 2 1/2 then to Y to 3" single straight through muffler to rear..
It made 505 rear wheel h.p
Then we fitted Twin 3" all the way and made 588 rwhp on same boost...
The limiting factor was the lift pump from tank to surge tank was not up to task...We have since fitted bigger injectors and better Walbro pump...
Its quicker but we havn't tuned it yet...
The twin 3" made heaps of difference..
So judging by power levels bigger exhaust makes heaps of difference...
Use straight through mufflers .....
