air filter restriction?

I have a 90* silicone elbow going from the front of the turbo to inside the fender. The silicone elbow goes from 4-3.5". I have the kn filter that is made for 94-95 5.0 mustangs on the end of the elbow. It measures

Base Inside Diameter: 3.25
Height: 7.375
Top Outside Diameter: 3

Is the elbow hurting me going from 4-3.5? If not, do I need a bigger filter such as this
http://www.knfilters.com/search/prod...x?Prod=RE-0920

Base Outside Diameter: 6 in
Height: 9 in
Top Outside Diameter: 4.625 in

This is on a 60mm turbo

why not just do like everyone else does and install your filter directly to the turbo? and yes it will at least rob 1 # of boost

The air cleaner will not hurt you. If you use a screen rather than a filter I hope you enjoy replacing the compressor wheel and housing every season.

They do make these little small foam filters that look similar to a flattened mushroom. My buddy that has a 800hp supra runs one. Not entirely sure of how the restriction is but seems to work for the import crowd. I would research it further.
