Blow-Thru setup questions

Had a couple questions about my build for a blow thru set up.

1. the bov has to go before the maf correct? (pic to show setup)
2. 4 inch of straight pipe before and after the maf should be enough currect?

Notes. i know the pipe before and after the maf has to be the same size as the actual maf in order to get a proper reading. any imput welcome. thanks in advance.

Hahaha, nice picture. Setup is fine, I think you'll have better luck with a bit more pipe before the MAF to have a better reading.

I agree, prolly atleat 12 in of stright pipe before and after the MAF. Well thats what I was told by the person doing the chip/tune on my car. He also asked me to use SCT MAF over the PMAS. Ask the person who is going to tune it what they prefer.

12 inch before the maf would be great. 4 inch is too little. I try and use 7 or more. Good idea too to see what the tuner prefers on the maf. Another choice would be to adapt a lightning maf.

I only got 4-5" of straight pipe before my 3"pmass and it works flawlessly.

Thats how I have my turbo set up. I have 5 inch (roughly) of straight pipe and works great. Bov position is fine as well. Happy boosting.

ok, i've been doing some reading, and i know that you must have the same size intake piping before and after the maf. how close must it be? i mean here the the inch to mm convertion, the closest i could get the a lmaf, 90mm.......3.5000 88.9000 is that close enough as far as the piping size goes?

With using a blow-thru setup it isn't necessary to use a huge mass air meter like it is running a draw-thru setup. A 3" or 3.5" blow-thru Pmas would be better in my opinion. Like with my PT-67 P-trim setup on my fox, i'll be using a PMAS 3" blow thru since that is the same size as the tubing from the turbo/ intercooler.

I had somewhat of the same concerns. I had an 80mm LMAF and used 3" cold side piping. My biggest concern was actually getting the metal adapter flange to seal against the mass air meter. I slathered it with Ultra Copper but I still don't like the look of it.

Ended up buying a 12" long piece of 3" aluminum and an aluminum MAF adapter so I can still use the LMAF sensor. That way I know it'll seal and the cold side piping is 3" all the way through.

MAF setup

Hey guys, not to hijack here, but I didn'y know you needed a length of straight pipe AFTER the MAF. How critical is this, and can you tune around it? I might have to break out the welder again! Here is a pic of my setup. thanks!

how close is that pipe to the size of the maf? just wondering how close it needs to be. i mean, is within .1 of the mm size good enough? that seems to be the closest i could find. 3.5 inch pipe is like 88.9 mm. close enough to 90 right? or will it throw it off

You can do pretty much anything you want after the maf..

ya i agree. since you have a pretty straight shot before the maf, i doubt you will have any trouble, if anything it will peg out a little sooner

I bought one of these:

http://www.vmptuning.com/store/index...d=34&parent=31

and a piece of aluminum piping. It'll be welded to it and the sensor bolts right to it.
