New dyno numbers w/ retune...

Had the car retuned at Speedy's Dyno in Owensboro. New numbers are as follows...

SAE - 411whp / 426wtq
STD - 428whp / 443wtq
Dynojet - 452whp / 468wtq

Power was made at 6-7psi.

What was the power level before? It was at a lower boost setting, right?

The boost level was never completely nailed down. I had the 5lb. spring in the wastegate, but the gauge read as high as 11lbs. or so. On the dyno this time, we started out with the 5lb. spring, but the boost was all over the place, really erratic. We thought maybe the small spring couldn't control the boost. (Sidenote...with the small spring in there, the car made 467whp somewhere between 10-12psi.) We put the 7lb. spring in, and the boost leveled out dramatically.

Do you think maybe the gauge is off somehow or it is something else?

The gauge was off previously, but was rewired before this tuning session. It matched up almost identically to what the dyno itself was reading during the pulls.

Something else to note, is that the car was originally tuned on an inertia dyno. This go round, it was tuned on a superflow dyno where the dyno can actually put a load on the car to simulate real world driving conditions.

Whats the difference between these numbers? Why do they all vary and why do you use the STD numbers as your dyno numbers? What does STD and SAE mean?

Sorry, I just dont know the difference.

Thanks

Pacebria, I'm running the stock bottom end, and stock heads.

Jormungand, let me try to do this from memory...not quite sure what the abbreviations mean...

SAE numbers are corrected to a particular altitude and atmospheric condition if I'm not mistaken. Where STD is the actual output of the vehicle at that moment under the weather conditions at that point in time. The dynojet numbers are simply that. The superflow dyno gives you an approximation of what the car would have made on a "dynojet" dyno.

Hope this is somewhat correct.

B303 cam, and Crane 1.6 rr's. There's still plently of power left on the table with some better heads, a more turbo friendly cam and of course more boost. I'm going to leave it as is for awhile though.
