May have destroyed something....

At an early point, I had done a compression test on the car and got 145-165 in all cyl. Not great but this motor is certainly not new. I was continually having this smoking problem under boost so I did a leak down test to see if it was blow by. Leakdown test was pretty bad-lots of 20+ percenters. That is except cyl #2 which was 100%! So there is absolutely nothing left of that one. So now I took all the turbo stuff off and am pulling the motor. I will post pictures when I tear it down.

You mean specs on the motor? It was a stocker. It had a mystery amount of miles on it. I replaced the rod bearings when I had the pan off to weld the oil returns in. The rod bearings had a lot of copper showing. There were no scores in the crank at least.

It looks like the headgasket is the main culprit.

The piston in question looks a little beat up but not horrible.

Is this piston shot? I am on a really tight budget. I just want to rering, and rebearing this motor for now.

doesnt look to bad, but i dont think its salvageable, did you change your oil yet, if you did, did you find any pieces of the piston? id bore the cylinders and just go with new pistons so you can be sure noting goes wrong later on.i know how the budget is. but hey atleast you can be sure nothing screws up.

New piston and light hone everything.Check bore for out of round...Blown engines and turbo need extra clearance piston to bore anyway especially with std pistons..You should get one piston cheap..New oil pump and timing chain, bearings and your away again...Oh better throw in an oil pump drive too..Check your tune also..The main reason for gasget issues....

I changed the oil. No real pieces in there. The other pistons look fine. I will measure the bores, hone them and rering. I will replace this piston, the timing chain, oil pump, drive and bearings. The tune may have some issues to do that to the headgasket so quick.

be sure to check the surface on the heads, too.

I hope to upgrade the heads. The ones I took off need a valve job more than likely.

I may have one good stock forged piston/rod combo from my last set. I know that I killed a few pistons, but my have at least one good one.

Steed93-PM me if you find a good one. That is what I'm looking to do-just put one decent one back in, rering and hone. Are they standard size?
