AiResearch 80mm vs. T-76

I was wondering how the AiResearch 80mm compared to a Turbonetics T-76 w/Q-trim upgrade regarding max horsepower potential.

Since discovering this forum and the Turbo Mustangs site I have dropped the nitrous motor plans in favor of a single turbo/carb combination for my E-Z Street coupe.

These two turbos are just two I have seen for sale recently and figured I had better do my homework before making a purchase (I'm new to turbos but am learning fast). I'm trying to make around 1,000 to 1,200 hp in hopes of mid-high eight second timeslips. I am open to any info, help, reccomendations and opinions you knowledgable turbo guys (and gals) may have. Thanks.

i made 1080 horses 1200 torque with the t-76 and most people had trouble believeing that.

if you want to build a 8 second car just step up to the 88 mm ..

or a 83 mm cheater 76 ..,
a true 76 and or 80 mm will be borderline where you want it.

Question Question...

What kind of power do you think an 88mm turbo will make with a smaller turbo's flange (like a 76/80)? That's the setup I have.. I was told -100hp for the non-thumper sized flange. Any ideas? It's from Precision with the Q-Trim impeller.

twinturbosaleen: That's impressive. What did it run at the track? Low nines at least! What kind of engine combo and type of intercooler were you running with that?
