How hard is it to install a turbo on a non-turbo2.3

I have a 1987 2.3 lx with the original engine(160,000miles) with a rebuilt auto transmission and everything else stock. Im buying a turbo coupe engine ( It had a manual tranny). How hard would it be to put the turbo on my existing engine/is it possible? Or should i pull the original engine out and just drop the one with the turbo in? Any ideas or information would be highly appreciated.

I'd think you would want to swap motors, because would imagine the factory turbo motor has different internals in it to work better with a turbo.

i would imagine the blown application is running a lower compression, and possible some forged internals to handle the additional power.

i would swap the whole engine.

if you want to just switch out the blower, you'll want to run some compression tests first on the old block, and make sure she's holding air, i'd also probably replace the head gasket, as if it is OE, it's not going to like the new positive MAP
