Question Are turbos banned in "Top Fuel"?

I've heard a few different reasons why turbos are not used in "Top Fuel" and i'm trying to get a definitive answer. Are turbos banned in "Top Fuel", or is there another reason why they are not used?

I've heard that no turbo's could survive to the high exhaust temperature of those engines.

The only serious attempts I remember had trouble controlling/transmitting the power to the ground. They were twisting off input shafts or bogging or blowing the tires away.
They were making plenty of HP.

I read they were having problems getting them right, but the NHRA banned them before anyone could see what the potential was. I believe this was about the same time they banned Buddy Ingresol's turbo regal in Pro Stock.

Scotty we need more power!!!

It actually comes down to the ungodly exhaust temps that nitro generates. Exhaust temps on a nitro car exceed 4000 deg F, so imagine how fast it would slag the turbine side of a turbo.. They would also need a turbo off a locomotive to move the same amount of air the SC about massive lag.. Once that sucker finally spooled though...hang on for dear life if it would hook.
As for Buddy Ingersol's turbo Buick being was because the N/A V8 Pro Stock guys pitched a royal biotch because they were being stomped on by a V6 Regal at every turn. NHRA officials gave in to the manufacturers/race teams pressure and banned the car from competition. It was total b/s, but politics/big bucks will usually win out over actual fairness. The other Pro Stock guys were just whining because Buddy was running waaayyy faster than them and they couldn't keep up. They were also a little scared of the technology that he was using and afraid of what it could mean to Pro Stock's future. I'll dig around and see if I can find the link to an article giving the low-down on the whole story.
