single turbo exust question

i am piecing together a single junk yard turbo kit for my stang, I was wondering how big of an exaust pipe you were able to run from the turbo to the exit exhaust and from the drivers side header to the passenger side header . The reason i am asking is cause there doesn't look like there is much room (i will be putting the turbo on the passenger side). between the bellhousing and the underside of the car. My car has a tremec and a lakewood bell for what it is worth.
thanks.
mike

I used 2.5" tubing on my single turbo. I used a flex connector that you can buy from JC Whitney. The down pipe is 3" and splits into two 2.5" pipes.

Thanks and yes it is a homemade setup. It's a small PT51 on there now.

Pipe size leading up to the turbo should be small diameter (2 1/2" or less) but the downpipe (exiting the turbo) should be large, like 3" or more.

Small diameter pipes before the turbo help boost spoolup and don't hurt top end. For example, the Cartech SS kit uses 2" pipe between cylinder banks and can suport in the neighborhood of 600+HP, assuming a turbo upgrade.
