Upgrading t3/t4

Out of curiosity, is it possible to get more power out of a t3/t4 by changing internals such as exducer, or chra, or is it just shifting the compressor maps or efficiency? Is it at that point an airflow equation? It would be interesting to see how large or how much power can be made without dropping $$$ for a complete new turbo.

What size turbo do you have now?
It may depend on where/what the HP limitation is being caused by, if it's the turbo or exhaust or intake, etc.
Are you wanting to make the same HP at the same boost or make more boost, etc?

I would highly recommend contacting Brian Bissonette: [email protected] (he custom built mine) and see what he can do to yours.

It's a 50mm twins, I forget trim but I think a 96ar, journal bearing Garrett. I'm not looking to upgrade really, but if I was, I'd like to make more power at less boost. I'm at 640hp on 15lbs. But I'm not sure how much more I can squeeze out of them at higher boost. Only reason I ask was because at the time, there was a larger 61 and 67mm but if I'm not mistaken, it's still a t3/t4 hybrid frame. I'll check him out though, maybe get an enlightenment on how these things are labeled and such.

If you have a HP kit the 50mm turbos likely have .48 or .63 exhaust housings. They should make about 800hp. The only way I see you making more hp at same psi is to get larger turbos. I ran a pair of garrett 60mm turbos for years. I still have them , but I have bought a new pair of PTE 6466's.

Don't get caught into the trap that bigger is better. Try pushing those more and see how they respond. Brian custom built my 60mm's for my combo and they responded real good to my combo making over 900 to the tires, through the muffs and through the 4r70. Maybe even a different cam could help your breath better.

Thanks guys, I haven't really cracked them open, settled on 650 at the wheels at 15lbs. My tuner said he wasnt sure how much was left in them. The a/r is .60 what I was trying to find out is exactly that, What is the limiting factor?

Dont get caught in glory runs from a mustang dyno. Easy to make hp on a dyno. Take it to a track and post up those numbers.

Well here goes, a 1.380 60' let off a little before the 1/8th, ran a 7.85 @89mph. I was pretty impressed by the launch, not so much by the pass. Stock 3.27's and 3650. They spoil real quick, I believe by the dyno they are wide open by 4000, rpm limited at 6500.

Yes, was working on my launch, was on the brakes by the 1/8th mile. Track wasn't prepped and I spun outside of 60'.

Ever thought of getting rid of the 60's?
