Is your Stock Block still alive?

How long has it lasted, and how much power are you putting down? Or did you kill it?!?

Share some insight on why you think it's live so long!

Dyno at 450/500 @ 9.2 psi w/ On3 70mm & TKO600
It's eating 17.5psi now on a PTE 7675 & Glide. Hp estimated over 600??

No idea why it's lasted. 28oz imbalance, rev limiter 6200. Both pump & e85.
Pro-M EFI w/ coil on plug, JW Ultraglide, full BBRC -10/-8 using a 4303 mounted in a water bath.

Stock 1991 block. 347 using shelf parts. Tw170, alphabet cam, Cobra intake.
This motor was only ever intended to be an 8.2" mock up block. Something I could fit parts on and still drive the car. But boost is addictive when it's only a push of a button to add more.


1993 Teal Cobra #2531 1 of 452, 347, Precision 7675, The entire kitchen sink....maybe 2 kitchen sinks at this point!

Cool mang.. I guess you're the only one left, or this forum is DEAD.

I building my motor right now. I have enough to hit the magic 500hp. I've been taking lots of pics along the way, but will wait to drop them when the time is right.

I have a 3550. I hope to not break it as long as I don't put sticky tires on it.. I plan to run on the street with a stock size tire, but am torn on what rear gear to run with it. I have both 3.08 and 3.27 gears to choose from.

How tall a tire and gear are you running?

We'll see what mine does. Started with a frankenstein'd-together Explorer shortblock, AFR 165s, TFS1 cam, and TMoss-ported Explorer intake. All this was originally going to be a N/A setup, but then I tripped and fell into a turbo kit. An old Cartech Outlaw kit with a T76 to be precise, bought from a friend for $300.

Shortblock is currently at a machine shop getting cleaned up after the flood (that bad one you might have heard about back in August). They're putting ARP main studs in while it's apart.

A rear end is this years big purchase. Getting a Fab 9 custom made.

Right now I have 3:73 on stock axels. The 3:73 isn't bad with the overdrive. According to Wallace Racing I should be around 3:31 or so. With the 4 speed Glide I don't think 3:55's would be bad either. I'll cross the gear ratio bridge in a couple weeks.
Right now I'm on stock axels. Haven't launched it at the track, but I do launch it off the 2-step & trans brake at every stop light. Because street car?

I'm running 26" tires with 2 choices.
315/35r17 on 17x10.5" 93 Cobra rims. And 275 Mickey Pros on 15x10.

The TKO600 was fun. But the switch to automatic is butter on bread.

I remember the flood,was coming back from florida,and I-10 was shut down in area's..got stranded on 12 near new Orleans..never forget that!

hate to hear it..hope you did not get too much damage..

curious to hear your outcome on this setup,as I have the parts to build something very similar, but with a smaller turbo..what mass air,and fuel system?

speaking of turbo...wow,you got a steal on that setup,if its all in decent shape

Stock 74 block 351, stock crank, stock rods. Probably 700 hp.

54" in the house, so it's been a PITA. Flood insurace has that covered though.

Pushed the car to high ground the day before, so she stayed safe. Had to replace a few loose parts that were in the garage though.

The setup I bought came with a 90mm Lightning MAF plumbed before the turbo, I'll be running that at least initially. Have a Walbro 255, some Siemens 60lb injectors that came with the top-end parts I bought, and I picked up some BBK rails with a regulator (since the stock setup got flooded). Running it with an A9L and a QuarterHorse with Binary Editor.

Was in decent shape: threw a simple rebuild at the turbo for cheap insurance in addition to fresh couplers. All I think it needs now is to clean and re-paint/powdercoat the charge pipes. They're mild steel, have surface rust and the finish is flaking.

i gave up on them after 3 stock blocks and a B50. They didn't last long at all.

If the regulator you picked up is BBK, I'd do yourself a favor and toss it. They are junk in my experience.

So far my stock 89 302 block is lasting after 2 seasons of 10 PSI. 500 RWHP/560 TWTQ. The block has been ragged on all motor, had a season of spray, and now going on its 3rd season of boost.

stock block 306 here. iron heads, exploder intake, 72mm magnum turbo, trickflow cam, e85 and Megasquirt on 8psi through a built auto. I street tune the car so haven't been on a dyno but hope to make some hits at a track soon. I'll report back with my findings. Even though I'm on e85, I have a conservative timing table that I may lean on once I'm at the track. Tough call since I could easily make enough power on e85 to scatter the block across Texas

stock block

I have a 89 stock block 302 with ARP main studs and rod bolts. It has had a a S-trim on it for 14 years and I had a 150 shot on it for two years before that. Last time it was on the dyno it made 510hp/470ft to the tires which was 10 years ago! I have since increased the boost to 18psi and made many other changes. I am guessing it makes 600 now. This thing just keeps asking for more!

11psi 525/520...piston lost a ring, oil pump found it. Block survived tho lol.

I forgot who made mine, but it's an SFI approved 50 oz. Dumped the stock one with the crap rubber a long time ago.

Ditched the stocker when I noticed the rubber was cracking. Have a SFI-approved Summit-branded one now. It's made by an Australian company called Cyco Systems, they also make the TrickFlow-branded one.

The issues most see with the stocker is age related. I sure as heck would not be trusting one after so many years on any combination. Now 15+ years ago I build a standard bore 331 and balanced a then brand new stocker to that with zero worries and never had issues with the setup.

Cool. I have a very low mile Stocker that looks new (after I painted it..). But at this point, I just can't put it on a motor, just like I can't put in a cam with less than .500" lift.. lol

I think I have to go ATI. It's a good investment.

Killed two. Both in the mid 10's at about 127 mph at about 3,350 lbs. The Dart I have now weighs about 80 lbs more than a stock block. I have a feeling that one will last (though I've melted a piston in it once).

'84 LTD LX - 9.83 at 140.09. Whippled 365 SBF with a glide and 3.08 gears. Driven to and from the track 60 miles without even changing tire pressure.
