surge limit for Incon turbos?? how little boost can i run?

Im working right now on getting my new motor together, the combo is in the sig. The rebuilt bottom end is all i can afford now, so i want to try to keep it together untill im out of school. I just bought the Keith Craft Tw's the other day, they flow 280in @.600 and 240ex @.600.

I got these for 2 reasons. 1, i wanted a little more detonation resistance than my ported irons since these are aluminum. 2, Im hoping that since these flow so well i can make the same power i was making before with less boost so it will last a bit longer, or atleast help keep detonation out of the picture.

I was running 10 psi before with hogged out E7's and a stock cam. Do you think i can run 6 or 7 psi and still make comprable power with my new set up? Most importantly, am i nearing the surge line for the GTBB35's? I havent ever seen a compressor map for these.

Think 500hp/500tq at the wheels is possible wiht this combo and 6-7psi of boost?

thanks everyone,
Shaun

Shaun,

Those turbos make good mass airflow at low pressure ratios, but not enough to make 500rwhp at 6-7psi. You'll probably want about 10-11psi to make that. You can run them all day long at 6-7psi and be nowhere near the surge limit, though.

Ok, thanks Shane. I guess ill just start with 6-7psi for now and work my way to around 10-11psi as my faith in the stock bottom end and my tuning skills increases...

Thanks,
Shaun
