Incon turbos?

Found some interesting pics over at Turbo Technologies of their new twin C5 kit. The turbos they are using look nearly identical to the Incon turbos. I called them and asked if they were GTBB's and I was told no. However, Jim did tell me the turbine housing did use a T2 style flange, which is what the Incon housings use. I can't really see if the exhaust flange is a 5 bolt or not but it appears to be.
The reason for the interest is because I have two cracked exhaust housings.
I am sending them my kit to see if there is a way to make them fit my turbos.

josh,

call up patrick at precision, they are a garret distributor, and if your housings can be fixed/purchased, they WILL be able to help you.

fwiw, i believe that incon used gtbb28's, which are now called gt28's by garret. garret usa does not market a 28 here, but they do in austrailia....funny eh...
anyhoo, call patrick and see if he can help ya.

good luck

My best guess is that they were caused by heat cycling. Before I bought the kit it was used exclusively for drag racing. Where you'd keep the car cold as possible until the waterbox, then go WOT and get the housings cherry red, then shut the car down to repeat the whole process several times a night. It was just too much for the thin walls of the Incon housings. I am not sure if it is as much a problem when used on the street or with a 800tti kit. I'd think that it would be more likely to happen in the 1000hp kits due to a bigger wheel having been machined into probably the same housing.

Just got word that my housings were ready for pick up, had them repaired by Majestic Turbo. $240 not too bad I guess could have been worse. I'll post pics of the repairs once I have them.

The incon kit used gtbb35's except for a select few who got something else.

400 hp /per turbo was the rated power from the gtbb35's and standard a/r housing.

If I was going to buy any new turbo, I'd get those center sections. They are awesome street turbos.

In fact, I'm considering doing a twin turbo swap to my 03 once the warranty ticks away some with the garrett turbos.
