cover turbo on not during tow

I just saw this on fb and not sure or not but makes sense. I will be towing a car across country with an open trailer and people say the wind will blow, turning the turbo and with no oil supplying the turbo it will damage it. What do you guys think?

Could not hurt , especially if you don't have a filter on it .

Not going to turn it fast enought to build up any heat to do damage.
Up to you though.

If you see the compressor wheel through the front bumper, that might be a different deal than a compressor mounted inside the engine compartment with a filter on???

I've towed a ceramic bearing turbo car plenty. Zero issues....

What you read is total BS. Someone needs to stop writing car stuff and go write science fiction books.

The only bad things will be water, dirt, or other debris getting into the turbo. You don't want road spray and other junk getting into the turbo inlet, especially rocks.
