air flow meter and ecu

ive heard the stock ecu will reset itself under certain situations, but pertaining to boost in particular it will reset if:

the maf reaches 80% or more 3 time

or

the fuel map doesnt match what the fuel system is doing when it periodically checks the fuel tables


does either of these hold any truth?

This is the first I've ever heard of this. I doubt very seriously that it's true.

I can tell you that when you peg the MAF the computer basically has no idea how much air is coming in. It then just substitutes its maximum value regardless of the amount of air coming in. This would cause a lean condition if you were using a lot of boost.
