Question Recommedation for EGT Placement

Here are 2 options where to install the probes:

1. Install the probes on the #2 and #7 header, or
2. Right before the turbo inlet, and another on the downpipe

Which option would you recommend?

Thanks,
Mitch

2 sounds good, but with a little modification. i would place one just beyond the turbine outlet then farther downstream on your exhaust

The most accurate place would be just after the primaries have collected.
There are variables though: distance, design, material etc..

If you place it after the turbo you will lose some heat
If you place it on particular cylinders then if a different cylinder is having a problem you wont know about it.

To use the EGT as a tuning tool it must be as close to the combustion chamber as possible, so if you chose to use 2 probes then I would say choice #1 with the probes 1" from the exhaust port.

I'd pony up the extra dough for a Wide-Band setup.

Or, place the sensor as close to the head as possible, on the leanest cylinder.
