help with exhaust size

Looking at putting a single turbo on my soon to be new 89 with 331. I want to keep tailpipes out the back for asthetic reasons. Is the 3" downpipe to the y then into 2 2.5" tails enough or do I need to go to 3" tails??

Depending on the turbo and power goal. Is it a stock block 331? If so then the 3"dp and 2.5 cat back is enough.

What is the limit on a 2.5 catback? Seems like 2.5 would be plenty considering you only have a 3" down pipe.
