95 GT Turbo 331 610whp/557tq Turbo gurus welcome

I had a non intercooled Vortech V2 SQ with 12psi making 552/527tq @19degrees on my 95GT with tko600 with 3.27 gear

I now converted to
BOSS 302 block
added a fuel system
BG Turbo kit with Precision T76 turbo.

I took it to the dyno this summer it was 98 degrees out on 93 octane
@ 11.5psi made 610whp and 557tq @ 17degrees total timing. 11.5afr at tailpipes

@ 16degrees it made 591 whp. 11.5afr @tailpipe

Dyno guy said to leave it on 16 due to not able to monitor inlet temps.
i had wrong fuel filter pre fuel pump had a 10micron instead of a 75micron.

(changed the fuel filter to the 75 fuel pressure now FP holding solid)
i moved my ait temp sensor to pre throttle body.

temps cruising around are about 14 degrees above ambient. just few single gear blasts around town never see the ait temps above 100.

My question is this, can i bump timing back to 17degrees on street on 11-12 psi what is the timing limits in this range.

i plan on going back to dyno and setting boost on 16psi (heard that is limit for 93) and seeing what it will make.

Any timing recommendations? boost limits on 93
i expected to see more torque than hp ? on like most turbo mustangs
not sure why mine doesnt have that

my setup
tfs trick flow track heat heads 170cc
supervictor efi intake with 90mm tb
Precision T-76 GTS w.96 exhaust housing

this was timing at 610whp
RPM timing boost
2k 31degrees
3k 23degrees 5psi
3.5k 18degrees 10psi
4k 17degrees 11.2psi
6k 17degrees 11.2psi
8k 17degrees 11.2psi

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

this was at 8psi 500rwhp

Any tuning tips? What are good inlet temps for turbo setup? Thought about increasing timing at 2k to 35 or more to get into boost faster like i did with the blower

I would leave the timing and boost low on pump gas, not worth the risk. Run good fuel, more boost and you will see what your car can do. You are barely working that setup.

We have VERY similar combos and I make quite abit more power and the car goes mid 9s on 13-14psi.
What intercooler are you running and downpipe size?
Also what fuel pump (curious because of filter issue)

leaving timing maybe 13psi and 3.08 gears would make it go down the track faster

I'm not familar with that pump, and whats the specs on that cam? We run the same dp and intercooler it sounds like also.

My car makes 774rw on pump gas with the same turbo you have but a billet wheel thru a auto. Gotta love E85 haha. I dont have any #'s for 91 octane vs C16 or antyhing on my car. I wouldn't even mess around trying to make more power than you are on 93 if it were my car. Those are good #'s on that fuel considering the timing and safe A/F.

I also would leave the 3.27

I would leave it as is so it lives for awhile on pump gas, that thing has to be a hoot to drive with a 5spd.
That turbo is barely on the map at those levels, your car could make 800rw easy on tilt with some good fuel/boost.

That pump was having cavitation issues I take it? Wild how diff pump manufactuers get so picky about what micron goes where.

You would think it was a standard for them all.

I had a 10 micron paper element pre-pump before I went to E85 on Weldons advice, I then swapped to their stainless elements and was advised to run a 100 micron pre pump. My car acted no diff, but I have a big pump so could be why. You would think I woulda had isses also since combos are close, but I also run a lil larger feed line.

Interesting...

it is the fuel labs 41401 efi fuel pump 105 gph at 45 psi, filter was to retrictive above 610 whp fp would fall. changed to a pre 75micron Stainless steel filter no problems now . still running a 10 micron after pump

B31 cam is .544/.544 112 218/224

what boost and timing were u at on that 774rwhp what was torque on that
what cam are you running i think that may help if i changed cams

e85 is tempting lol

We have tuned alot compared to this combo, timing curve is more then acceptable I would want this combo to live as well with setup and pump gas while tuning, going 17* likely will not cause you problems and motor combo, I always recommend race gas mix or straight depending on car use to avoid head gasket issues, I have many 17-21* on pump low boost that do very well compared. Looking over your combo a set of TFS/AFR 205 CNC with a custom turbo grind would do wonders, well put together setup!

^^^THIS^^^ Bigger heads and a custom turbo cam would do wonders.
Though about going with e-85? Its very impressive how much more power you can make with it.

I think you'll be fine at 17*. That's very conservative at that boost level. With your supervictor intake and a 331, that engine is corked by the heads. Need bigger ones. I made 762 at 15 psi with a AFR205s, an FTI custom, and TFS-R Box on top.

wow 762 that is awesome power!
what fuel was that?
how much timing at 15psi ?
thanks for the great info!
i bumped timing to 17 now seems to be doing fine

It seems my AFM B-31 218/228 .544/.544 cam is making boost spool more like a supercharger rather than turbo. Boost is coming in linear, when boost was set at 15 it didnt hit 15psi until 4500 rpm

3k 2.8psi
3600 8 psi
4000 11.2psi
4500 15.6psi

I thought about CNC porting my heads, or getting some TFS 205 heads , but then i thought well i might break my TKO 600 if i did that lol.

Think i may need to get a custom cam to get more boost earlier

That number was a bit of a glory pull with 21* total. I ran it that way for a few months on the street without any significant issues. Then, on the next dyno I backed it to 16* and made 703 SAE (724 uncorrected). On that hot humid florida day, the car didn't make any more power at 17*. So, I left it at 16. All of it was on 93 octane.

LOL @ the TKO 600. I made those passes through the original TKO, which was rated at 450 lb-ft Going to a built T56, though. I know the TKO wouldn't hold up much longer, or if I ever went to slicks or big DRs.

I think that's about right for the 76, man. Especially in lower gears where the RPM is coming on hard. It takes a bit to get to max boost, but I might be getting there a bit faster with my DBB turbo. Mine's a GT4202-R with a precision 76 compressor - the same from the 76GTS

What are you using for tuning? Stock computer? If so, Id stop driving the car. Ive wasted way to many motors and I am steping up to a DFI.

Sorry, I don't get on corral very often anymore. I use a Big Stuff 3. I live in Germany, and they car's been in America for the last 3 years... so yeah, I don't drive it much anymore.

A stock computer with a chip, with a custom tune should have no problems at all at that power level and rpm. There are a lot of guys making a lot more power, turning a lot more rpm using stock computers with custom tunes. The aftermarket computers such as FAST, DFI, ect., simplify tuning quite a bit, making it easier for to tune their own car.

If I buy a part or parts from you do not send me those parts through USPS, I would actualy like to get the parts I purchase.
