This seasons turbo results so far. Still playing

Been using the Borg&warner 76mm turbo this year and so far very happy with it. Engine is a little to big for it but over all working very well. 393w is the engine and at 3200lbs 1/8th mile at 14 psi boost been 5.65 at 124mph. This is with a hydraulic cam 3.73 gears and 28 10.5 non(w) tires. Shifting at 6200 rpm. Very good turbo but better suited to 347 cubes and less. Boost drops above 5800 rpms on run by 6200rpms I am only at 11 psi from 14 psi. Will finish up year by trying to push 20 psi. Next year or following year will move up to Garret's new 88mm model T6 flange big boy and see how I fair in X275 ranks.

Will post as testing continues.

Thanks! Hoping to see 5.30s or 5.20s by years end. More worried about powerglide giving up so may not make it. Will post as try higher boost levels and what the boost drop is as push it harder.

Yes on dyno at current 14 psi boost made 765 rwhp was dead rich. Have leaned out and picked up so figuring more in the 800hp range now at 14 psi. Compression is 9ish:1 and heads are Victor Jrs. self port.

New 76mm turbo kit 2012 March 1989 Notch Mustang 003 | Flickr - Photo Sharing!

This link is the build pics of the current single turbo setup. The rest of the pics show old twin turbo setups over the last 5 years. Incase3 of wondering why went to single it was just for the fact that most classes only allow a single turbo.

I have not checked back pressure on any part of the setup due to not really expecting any due to setup and the fact of boost drop being seen in high rpms. Exhaust not going to have much due to stright 5 inch dump no muffler out of the fender. Once spool up the exhaust back pressure going to be gone due to wastegates dumping to keep boost at 14 then when high rpm hits the turbo is at full spool and gates are closed so back pressure maybe a little at high rpm but can't see it being very much.

This guy will have a similar set up. Think the 76 would work for him?

Yeah this turbo will work out great for what he wants to do. Will spool very fast with a 408 and keeping his rpms under 6000 he will be good for the turbo. 700hp mark will be easy, this turbo is rated to 1100 HP. No issue making the number. With stick this turbo will be a better fit to keep the boost responsive. He can also add a 2 step to the setup so when clutch is in the 2 step is ingauged and will keep his boost up between shifts as well as he can use when about to take off. Little cheap way to build boost on a stick car or keep boost up between shifts for you.

Sure thing., Hope it helpped with what you were looking to do. If looking for more of a 1/4 setup turbo the twins would be better and take the abuse better or go to an 88mm. Boost response will go down with the 88 but will take 1/4 mile runs with ease were as with the 76mm is good for 1/8 but 1/4 may damage it over a while due to over spinning for long periods of time.

Ok went racing tonight and have new numbers while still on 14psi. 5.56 at 126mph. MPH is a little low I broke transmission on the run so car layed over just before finish line. Still weight at 3200lbs give or take 10 lbs. This will be last test for season due to lack of money to fix and upgrade transmission. Bad thing was was top qualifer in an quick 8 shoot out. Oh well thats racing!

Hit them hard or you will have tire shake. Harder I hit them better it hooked and went. Light hit just shook and then spun.

Ok Transmission is out and doesn't look to bad. Should have it fixed and back in by this coming weekend. May need a new flywheel. Not sure yet got to check if still flat. Over all should be good to go. If so will run one more race and give results as have them. Still want to push the boost up a bit to get some 30s out of it.
