Turbo budget question

So here it goes...after building my motor up..it's still not enough, and the next addition, a turbo kit. How much should I budget for a turbo kit? What are some nice brand kits?

Keep in mind I want to keep my stock block alive, and I believe 400 is about all the stock block can handle safely, so im only looking to make a low boost, turbo build that will be reliable and ultimately raceable. Budget build ideas are completely okay too!i still have a lot to learn about turbos.

My car has milled/refreshed gt40p's heads/gt40 upper and lower/stock bottom end/ gt40p shorties and x pipe/ bbk CAI/ explorer tb/ arp head studs and high quality head gaskets

Will have electric fan and 3.73s soon

Depending on what kit you go with i went with On3 kit, supporting fuel mods,Air fuel gauge, heat wrap, spark plug boot protectors, plug, ignition system,a tune...are you doing the install yourself?...you can be looking at 4k or more....when said and done...I had my kit installed, and what you see in my SIG parts and labor...and tune was around 9k...I paid for all parts i found the heads, intake i bought the turbo kit,all fuel stuff...Air fuel gauge, everything i bought they just charged me labor...to get an idea on how exspensive it gets...

Turbo installed!!!!

Ahh that adds a bit, I have a completely stock motor for now, no reason to do anything more as I could easily break the block with just the turbo.

Yeah I'm looking for a budget build. I have a pro m mass air flow sitting in my garage and I was looking at on3's 1400 dollar kit. What do you guys think about on3's kit? And I also will be doing all the labor myself.

I just did a DIY kit everything including injectors and fuel pump ran me about 1500 bucks give or take although I have access to a exhaust shop. If I were you I'd go with a b&g hot side and eBay cxracing intercooler kit

Stock block Bcam,gt40p,explorer intake 62mm turbonetics 12psi 42 pound injectors 340 pump all that extra jazz.

Could you link me all the parts you bought/where you got them/ etc...like I said I'm still learning about turbo kits but they don't seem to complicated. I forgot I already put a 255 Walbro in..

I found this... Does it look like a piece of crap?

Looks solid don't know much about that Turbo but I'm running a 62mm turbonetics its said there good for 550. The headers looks like you might need to delete your a/c and relocate your oil filter.
I bought my Turbo off this forum for 350
Turbosmart w/g 215
Headers 80
Intercooler 140 cxracing
Intercooler piping kit 100
Bov 40
340 fuel pump and 42 pound injectors 180
About 250 bucks for the gaskets header wrap Turbo blanket flanges manual boost gauge
And 80 for some gauges that's all I can think of now if you need links to any of this stuff or part numbers to oil feed fittings let me know
I have a thread on here somewhere about this kit I did

Stock block Bcam,gt40p,explorer intake 62mm turbonetics 12psi 42 pound injectors 340 pump all that extra jazz.

If your name has to do with your year car, Im assuming, I have on3's kit on my 94 cobra. Just letting ya know I had to modify a couple of the pipes to get them to fit. Such as the downpipe and crossover. I've seen other people have to do the same and others had no issues with fitment. Just giving ya a heads up. And from what I understand, don't mess with the 3.73s if you are going turbo. Everyone says 3.27s or 3.55s. Im not an expert, just have done a TON of reading on these forums haha

I budgeted 3000 for everything. IE fuel system, turbo kit etc.... And after heat wrap and gauges and paying a shop to fix the piping, well lets just say I stored all the receipts and refuse to add them up.

94 Rio Red Cobra, Trickflow 170s, F cam, T-moss ported lower, Fox intake swap, 3.73s

I thought you had a 94 as well a fox is a bit easier oil feed line all you have to do is tap your extension before the oil sending unit headers should fit better due to the compressor location. I'm like ajs don't know all that much just a ton of reading

Second what ajs94cobra said. Just finished my on3 install on my 95 cobra. So far I am about 3500 in and still have to fix a few things and have it tuned. I'd say around 4k will do it.
