waster gate vacuum

where do you guys hook it up? my new turbo doesnt have a vacuum port on the turbo so i asume any intake vacuum will be good.

You can tap turbo with 1/8 npt to 1/4 barb fittings that you can get at homedepot or ebay. You can take any vacuum after tb too but for best result take boost before tb so wastegate only see boost and not vacuum. YOu can tap to intercooler pipe too.

90 deg 1/4 hose barb to 1/8 NPT brass elbow fitting | eBay

I put my line in my Intake Tube ,very close to the throttle body.

intake tube or vacuum line from intake....if you're going to run a lot of boost 20+ pounds, you'll need a positive in line (off turbo or off intake)...I made 19 pounds off a line off the intake...

I tapped the turbo with 1/8 npt I think I had $10 in the tap and drill bit

manifold is ok but just keep it mind that in theory the turbo could run away on you if you ever have a bad coupling, intercooler, etc

i actually plan on installing extra pressure sensor at the turbo compressor which i will log via my anderson pms interacq and will be a good way to see the pressure drop across the intercooler or if there's ever a issue

Rusty, the turbo is the best option, and the only one in my opinion. When do I get to see this beast?

88lx Conv. 200K mile stock longblock. Trickflow intake, 42lb inj, Pmas protube,TKO500, 3:27, pypes muffs, Pa Racing tubluar K-member, DIY single turbo setup. Summit aluminum rad, Crane Hi-fire ign, subfames, 17" sc saleen's, Saleen ground effects, SCT tune by Dynosport. 380HP 435ftbs.

i think closest possible to the TB is best.

Otherwise, lets say mounted at the turbo and you're using springs to tune for boost or a boost controller, the engine will see less actual boost due to the pressure drop after the intercooler and piping.

Closer to the intake manifold you are the more accurate your wastegate will regulate. Or atleast thats how i always interpreted it, and i read read and read some more when i was making my turbo kit and never had a problem with it set up like this

exactly. there are companies who sell speed sensors that monitor your turbo shaft speed. odds of it happening... who knows???

pkstang.. ive never heard of anyone having to run VACUUM to the wastegate... maybe i am missing something, or they may have evolved since last time i've put one together (2008)

just tap the turbo. a wastegate isnt supposed to see vaccum

I would think if there's a leak that bad then the motor wouldnt make enough power to spin the turbo that fast. Not sayin its not possible though.

ok well i guess all tap the turbo then. figured if it needed to be there then the company would have put it there pre taped.
