WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO GET INTO THE 11'S ?????

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO GET INTO THE 11'S ?????

heres a link from last time i was at the track.

fast forward first 30 seconds

the last pass in video was the best but wheel spin is pretty bad

all passes were on 6-7 lbs of boost

1st pass - 12.72 at 110.31 2.0 60ft

2nd pass - 12.30 at 117.44 1.95ft

3rd pass - 12.13 at 114.74 1.79ft

4th pass - 12.04 at 114.86 1.80ft

im trying to knock off half second. any pointers on what i should do to reach a lower time???

control arms maybe??? Am i not warming the tires up enough????

i would love to hit close to. 11.49 on stock block.

also i have the boost up to 10-11 lbs now. and have et streets

pointers would be great. thanks guys

thats a stick right? is your rear end built? If so, ET drags, 6k launch will get you 1.6 or less sixty footers. When i had a blower on the stock 5spd (03 GT), i left at 6k, and got 1.49-1.55. even you mph seems low. Usually turbos run a decent mph. Wheres your power peak at? where are you shifting at? Try higher shifts. Get some skinny's up front

yea its a stick, stock --rear,shocks, everything on rear is stock. other than the gears. 4.10's i know there hurting me in mph. im changing them over winter back to stock ratio. also im shifting at 6000rpms

Gears would hlep a bunch with your time and MPH for sure. Turbos love the load of taller gears. Your going to want to build that rear as im sure you know its on barrowed time lol. MY buddies 03 gt when it was procharged on stock motor made 410 i think. had all his susp done and such he went 11.61 on a 1.6x 60.

CHange those gears out and its going to keep you in the power alot longer and cut your times down.

doesnt look like your heating the tires up very much, but i guess that could be because your on the stock rearend. Your going through 1st and 2nd gear really quick. A gear change would help that

Who did the tuning?

I've got a buddy with a nearly stock 02 gt with a 3.73, pi converter, and some long tubes that runs 12.60's at around 106mph. Hell it only put down 253rwhp. just seems to me like it should be way faster than that.

I had a problem like that last year getting in the 12's with the 351W N/A. When I tore it all down to do the 383 turbo I found the driveshaft yoke splines were twisted and bound the driveline up so I couldn't get a good dig.

im just hoping that the high boost and good tire warmup takes me into 11's. but i definitely need to swap the gears out back to 3.27's. im hitting rev limiter in 4th gear before i even go through trap w/ the 4.10's.

ill keep yea guys updated

Great Vid, I would go for 355's with power level and tire size personally. Car looks strong with your pass at (2:00) we need to be aggressive enough on the launch with the turbo setup so we are not losing boost off the line..nor blowing the tires off happy medium, give me a call we can make a few changes to the tune as well I have a few idea's

Thanks, Chris

SEAT TIME !!!!! Lots of seat time lol turbos are a different breed to launch.

I found (for me) that street tires or DRs needed "more clutch" to keep rpms/boost up but NOT shock the tires so hard they spin.. when ya do it ya know it however you can tell how hard it is on the clutch !! ya know that every once in a while when your not paying attention at a red light go to take off and just burn the clutch up? sorta like that lol

I also found with drs they need heat.. white smoke heat, I didnt see any white smoke in the vids.. with my BFGs you could feel them turn into gumballs after a few seconds of pouring white smoke. could hear it start to load the motor harder..

On a full slick tho I was able to set the 2step at 3500rpm and pulling timing while on it I could build full boost (10psi) side step the clutch and hook..

BOTH ways are very hard on parts !!!!!

did some go "different" in any of them runs to explain the 7mph difference?? even on my BAD nights my mph was always always within 2-3 mph at most, my times would be all over the place but not mph lol

BTW NICE car and 117mph is pretty good for only 6psi

James' car runs hard for what little he has done and the Brooks Speed tune works awesome

a gear change and some rear susp work would help alot bwaite

You definitely need to practice your launching skills. As with any combo that's on street tires or 17"+ drag radials, you are going to have to slip the clutch. Dumping the clutch will not do you any good as you are shocking the tires and not allowing the weight to transfer.

You really need to invest in some upper and lower control arms also. That will help with traction. Swapping back to the stock gears will help out a ton also.

Also, you need to do a lot bigger burn out. All you were doing in the one race I watched was cleaning off the tires. You need to do a pretty decent burn out. What PSI are you running in your tires?

Good luck and keep us updated.
