Stock Mustang Turbo Kits, $2000 to spend ideas ??

I sold my 91 mustang 3 years ago for a few reasons ... but have a chance to by it back now.
Have been thinking about it hard
I built a few different setup over the years. all heads, cams, intake.
One thing I always wanted was to buy a stock mustang and just put a turbo on it. and be done with it.
I can buy my old car back for 4500.00
(cast iron head cobra crate engine with work, steeda 18 cam, 5speed 310hp & 360tq) short specs.

I'm just doing research right now.
I'm trying to find a decent mustang coupe in 2000-2500 range searching south Florida Cragislist everyday.
Its going to be a daily driver in Florida so everything has to work including the AC.
I was looking at a On3 Performance kit just a base kit with out any upgrades other then the fuel system.
I've done the search all of reading on alot of sites.
I just have some basic questions. Take in mind "ALL Stock" Everything.!! say 75k-100k miles
Looking at Driveability, and fuel economy. ( Please No you can't have gas mileage and HP remarks )
My last car with 300rwhp N/A did 12city & 20hwy mpg.

Guys what kits are you using - How long have you had it, Dyno and MPG number ?
Car I'm Looking at 90-93 5.0 Stick or Auto 94-95 5.0 Stick or Auto
Not really looking at the 4.6L engine setup but if you have a 96-98 stock tirm turbo please list it to

So let say i have a stock mustang and say $2000 what would you guys do?

for that price a quality kit that is complete with fuel system will be hard to find.... not to mention there are no kits that I am aware of that keep the a/c. most if not all require a/c delete.

2k, I would do the usual mods... Under drives, exhaust, bolt ons and stuff like that....maybe spray it if there is enough left over for a kit. Nitrous is CHEAP in FL

I not to consered with tuning more then fitment, I can tune the car.

ok let make this easy here is my old car
1991 Foxbody Mustang 5.0 FS/FT

issue on why i sold it. I swaped it to a 5speed from a built lentech AOD only because i had the AOD for years and it was sliping and got a better deal on swaping it to a stick and i missed a stick lol to so i thought. first car was a 86 svo.
1. Clutch was way to hard ( Ram HD )
2. Gas sucked around town ( one because i couldn't drive it easy lol. 12mgp
3. had it a long time just wanted something new
4. biggest reason I had a growing up faze (bought a 99 vw passat)

Now I want a mustang again, badly lol. I just want to build it wisly.
One time only. don't care if its stick or auto.

How much u paying for a new car? I'd get a v6 sn95 with no motor or blown motor then 351 swap it IF u MUST keep a ford motor in it.

I'm dead set on doing a turbo, I don't want to get into a engine swap, plus starting with a v6 means I'd have to change tomany things.

I hoping to find a mustang coupe in the 2500 range 75-100k miles
with a 5.0 auto or stick. it all depends on the shape of the car.
would even consider a 96-98GT

I'm setting spending limit at say $2200

I did my turbo, fuel and ecu for less than 2200, BUT I bought used or DIY.

Well if you want something cheap that you can keep ac, power steering, smog, sway bar, and such I have a old school turbo engineering kit for sale. It mounts the turbo under the ds front frame rail. Just thought I would throw it out there for you its old and not many out there so its not like you'd pop someone's hood and be like I have that same kit.

x2... would have been more but I found some good deals on my used parts.

to keep a/c you will either have to find one of the older turbo kits that allowed it or DIY it.

IF you can buy a car that does NOT have anything you dont need/cant use with a turbo.... high rear gears, chambered mufflers bigger then stock fuel system but not big enough for turbo. etc etc etc.

for the price that you are willing to spend I believe the On3 will be your best bet. The on3 website says it can retain the ac on the fox body kits. I personally don't run the on3 kit but seems like people on here have great success with them. All you need is the upgraded fuel pump, mass air, 42 lbs and a good tune and you be good to go. I believe on3 sells this stuff for a little extra cost.

just know that ya get what ya pay for !!!!!

several people have had issues with on3 lately..

https://forums.corral.net/forums/turb...l#post10614768

there is a few other threads on it as well..

B&G has a cheaper "imported kit" for like 1900 or so
I even seen a ponydown complete kit NEW for under 2k but it was in the classifieds and dude was selling for a major loss...

just shop wisely

oh and take it from someone who bought a "cheap" turbo kit... its NOT worth it ~!!!!!! do it right or do it twice

The On3 kit will allow you to keep your ac. I'm installing the kit now on my 87 coupe and still have the ac. The IC is a tight fit but if you trim the inner fiberglass headlight bucket you can make it fit wo butchering the bumper cover. Mine fit so well most people won't even notice that it has a turbo unless the hood is up.

well my last mustang was the one i posted i bought it for 2400 with 106K bone stock 2.73 gears and a Auto.
So i know there other there. I'm not in a real hurry, just looking and I have to sell my current car first

I'm not to concerned with tuning it, I'm more worried about the fit then anything.
I don't mind if i have fab up A/C lines or bend them to fit.
The only things I don't mind getting rid of it the smog and the power steering.
I have some parts sitting around from my old car that never got on it. Flaming Rivers manual rack being one and some borla pro xs and a set of 36lbs injectors if i needed them in a pinch,
I know definitely get what you pay for, been look at the On3 kit everyday and checking write ups on them.

cg fabrication is a one man shop and On3 is mass produced. Its like the difference between an in house hand built car and one that rolls off the assembly line. he builds custom turbo kits for cars in the 6 second range and everything is built to order. its worth the extra money. hes building headers for $695 that would normally cost over $1500 compared to other fabrication shops that i have seen. I came very close to buying an on3 kit but ive just seen too many issues with fitment and i dont like how they use an ebay intercooler, wastegate, and bov with their kits

Their kit looks like its high quality but is out of the OP's budget.

No it is an EXACT copy of the kit. Look on his site. He says he worked at PTK????

If you don't believe me I have a PTK kit with pictures when I bought it brand new. EXACTLY the same!!!!! Same everything.

I don't think the old PTK kits are junk either. I love mine. Fit perfect and makes power. It's just that they screwed a lot of customers.

well i didnt read that part, but still its not a pro turbo kit and im sure that improvements have been made since then. Thats only pertaining to their 5.0 kits anyways. The modular kits hes making now are completely different from old modular pro turbo kit. not even in the same ballpark. its obvious the guy knows what hes doing and quality seems to be great

I'm not doubting his quality. Mine is over 3 years old and still going strong. There are no improvements to the fox body kits. He is even using the same picture that ptk used to use on their web site.

I question all the past practices of ptk which this guy was a part of. I would hate to see anyone else get screwed.
