My car hooks hard on the street, but I have no stall yet and Im running MT's drag radials. 275x50x15's. Oh forgot to mention running AODE. I would think if your running a stick....good luck getting to hook if you dump it out of the hole. My car doesnt come out of the hole on the boost yet.

95gt Dart block 363, TEA 205 Heads. 78MM Turdblower Custom cam, All fab work done by me....Moates tuned by me, AODE done up, yep I got overdrive. Drag radials, 327 rear. Next setup to come over winter...lol

you will be hard pressed to find a sports car that will hook out of the hole on the street, unless the area has been treated to some prep. From a roll my car will hook on at least 10#'s I'm running 275/60/15 MT DR's and a C4.

if it hooks on the street (a unprepped street) then it doesnt make any power.. LOL!!!

JK i would say it is a waste of time to try and get it to work on the street..

X2. A car making real power is gonna have a hard time on the street. Hell it's tough on a good prepped track. I guess it depends on your definition of high hp.

With my second stage off (8.8 psi) my car will hook with hot tires and rolling into the throttle in first. (about 650 rwhp)

We played with the car on "kill" from about a 60 mph roll and it kept traction. It felt very strange as if you were forcing the car to do something it didn't want to do. There is absolutely no way you could street race like that.

The faster the car, the less safe it is to be tearing around the street...Need to make sure you are respecting the danger.

My street racing days are long past but honestly, anything that is faster then high 9's is a serious danger on the street, just my $.02.

Of course it won't hook, with my street tire I hook from 70mph to 120 and then it spins again. If you making big power you won't hook.

Best results I've seen was a 450hp fox that used to eat tires through third with street tires, nitto 555rs tamed it down to where it will usually dead hook 2nd. First is just for fun, car has 3.08s and a 70mm turbo.

Mine hooks. Roll into first, lift to shift just don't kick the pedal down and work the throttle to barely keep the tires squealing. 650 rwhp on drag radials with high antisquat values.

Edit: forgot I was in the turbo section. That is on my centri car which is easier to drive then my turbo car.

When I had the T-trim and S-trim the car would do somewhat you described on 18" Nitto DR's
640rw on the T
560rw on the S

Then I got the turbo and could roast them at 70 on the freeway

Actually I think most sports cars hook up relatively well out of the hole on the street. Now Mustangs and turbocharged ones is another story.

I had a buddy who was in the mid to high 800 rwhp with his old twin turbo stang. That was his only car and for daily driving was on a real street tire. It actually hooked up relatively decently but the power ramped up in that combo. I can recall doing many a burst from 30 or so upwards of 110 or so. I am sure some of the very things that hurt his power also helped with those street mannerisms along with driving style. For example he still had 3 chambered flowmasters on it and had a solid roller cam with close to factory cam specs.

My car on like 11 psi will hook pretty good in the hot summer months.
It will dead hook in a 2nd gear pull no issue. First gear will spin a little bit, but not bad.

In the winter it spins alot more, it will spin a little bit from a 2nd gear roll.

I can actually launch the car decent on the street. My car only stalls like 2-2200 on the motor with no boost, so i can take off, with no boost and then as boost ramps up, back off the throttle, ease it in 1st. THen as i shift to 2nd go to WOT.

Traction was a bit more of an issue with a manual trans, the auto sucked some more power and the stall and stuff made it easier to hook.
I used to think spinning tires was so cool years ago and i used to rate power based on it lol. sure it looks good and makes the car feel like its running good but all it does is waste tires and go slower.

hooking car> spinning car

Mine does pretty well but it's a fat pig. Traction control works but it spools like ass when it's on. It pulls timing to keep traction. I can peddle it pretty decent, but a light spring with the EBC helped also. I would turn the crack pressure all the way down to slow the spool. Being a stick help because there is no torque multiplication down low. I'll try the 20 psi boost setting when the rear suspension is done.

I have 3.90s in my car and they feel great with the turbo, but I am wondering if a 2.73-3.55 will be much better. The only traction I ave is when I let off the pedal. I'm on cheap street tires.

Yes, a lower gear (numerically) will work better. I have had both 3.27 and 3.55 in my car and the 3.27 works much better on the street.

....in general this thread is scaring me....I hope everybody is being careful with these cars!

My 93 Lightning made 550rwhp with a Vortech S-trim. We were only about a mile off the dyno doing some "testing". When I put it in 4th, it spun the tires at around 90mph! That was the last time I did that

My Cobra made 477rwhp and would spin the tires with ease. It was my DD for the 3 weeks that it lived. I am expecting 600-650rwhp out of it now and it will again be my DD during the summer months anyway.

Like stated above, it can be done, but you MUST respect what the car can do! Don't fear it, but the minute you don't repsect it, its gonna hurt!

Yea I'd say I'm makeing over 500 now and on some old 315/35 drag radials Its no such thing as traction. I hope on the 325/50s at the track its a diff story.

Respect boosted V8s....its so funny ppl that have no clue about turbo'd V8s..they are not for the UNskilled driver. Driving about 30mph and gong WOT and hearing the tires talk is kinda fun.
