Ive been told that since im running such low boost i can set the base timing to 10 degress and run stock. But i think id like to try 8 degrees base with the spout in. Anyone have any objections

U might want to be careful doing that . Even @ 6 lbs it's gonna make a lot of power. Won't take much to rattle that motor and burn it up. If your gonna run with no tune lock out the timing and keep a close eye on the afr.

8 should be fine thats 23* total timing. i was pulling 1* for each lb of boost my total timing was 15* @ 15PSI. so that would be 24* @6PSI

Well i set the base timing at 6 and put the spout back in. I hqve to wait til tom to drive it because of a storm. Im going to listen for pinging and slowly increase it to 8* Ill be getting it tuned in a week or so

<newb.

I've searched but can't find what I'm looking for. When u say you pull 1* is it assumed that everyone starts at 10. Also how do you do thar math to come up with your statement above. I'll keep looking also.

the op is using the dizzy to pull timing. base is 10* and ecu adds 15* at wot
so if he sets base at 8* wot timing would be 23*.

i am using an amderson pms i can pull timing out when the car builds boost. i have base set at 10* and add 20* at wot then pull 1* for each lb so at wot and 6psi im running 24* and at 15psi im at 15*

Generally the pulling timing per pound of boost if from where you motor makes best power N/A for example my setup after alot tinkering and tuning made best power at 36* total, i pull 1.5 per psi so at 6 psi came up with 27* total. Ran it like that for a long time. I upped the boost to 12 psi and now i run 15*, pulled a little more to be safe as i ran into detonation at 18* on 91 pump gas.

stock everything and run 10* with the spout in has worked fine for me for over 4 years... I have a MSD BTM but have never used it.
