Why does my bola cat back sound like butt underload w/turbo

My bola stingers sound bad underload with turbo. It sounds like a six banger. But at idle it sounds great. Anyone know why this is???

With exhaust pulse from turbo your catback will not sound like na motor, only thing you hear is whooooosssssas air is moving very fast.

If it is raspy and pops alot it could be your xpipe.

Is it a single or twin setup?

An x-pipe is non value add on a single turbo car and I think you could question the validity of an x-pipe on any turbo car.

I run a single race bullet and it sounds sort of "boat like" when not in the boost. Can't say it is the best sound but once you tip into the throttle the turbo speaks for itself.

Borla is a high quality exhaust and should have sounded nice ? If you want to change I love my Magnaflow Magnapack!!

I have the other Borla catback. The one that has larger baffled mufflers. Stingers to me sound like trash even on an N/A car. Idle is okay but any RPM after that and it gets loud and obnoxious.

Sold-2000 GT-bolt ons and suspension. 273hp/ 309ft.lbs.
Good bye old friend

I havent ever ran that muffler so I dont know what it really sounds like. You could use a resonator before it splits to try and quite it down. Thats what I did on my 2v car and I run single exhaust though with it. With just a single magnaflow it was a little loud for a daily driver so I welded in a race bullet right after the 2nd pipe in the downpipe(after turbo). I really like the single exhaust to the back axle personally but I do have the same setup like you with magna-flow on my cobra

Not sure if it is at all relevant but I had a Borla cat back on my 99 GT that I got for free. Hacked the Borla tips off, reinstalled stock tips.

I really did not like the sound of it. Sounded more like a 1967 dumptruck then it did a mustang.

Turbo cars are a whole different ballgame though...

i run these cans on my new 4v twin setup! these are not stingers, they're the race mufflers (XR-1) from borla. I run straight downpipe from each turbo to a resonator then to the borlas, no merge pipe. Mine sounds nice and deep tone. This is no help to you since we have 2 completely different setups But you could try adding a resonator before the y pipe to help the sound!

ferfont1 thank you for the input, now atleast i know what they are. haha. i think i will keep these on, til winter, then switch to the magnapacks over the winter. thanks again for the input. would you think if i put a highflow cat right before the y-pipe, it would help????
