What Size Headers & Crossover For 1000+HP

I am wondering on what size headers to get 1 5/8" or 1 3/4", what size crossover 2.5" or 3.0", also if I should increase the size pipe from 3" to 3.5" from the intercooler to the throttle body? I am trying to make 1000 to 1200HP with a 327 and a Precision GT42-76 with a 1.28 A/R. I have heard of guys running 1 5/8" headers and 2.5" crossover over 1000HP is this true? Would the bigger headers and bigger crossover cause it to take longer to spool?

go big.

1 3/4
3" crossover
5" downpipe

3.5" coldside with big vertical flow intercooler
or an air/water cooler set-up might be better still

and GT42 is not enough turbo. GT45-08R mo-better. 88mm Borg Warner even better

at 30psi you are talking about moving some serious air.

Just curious how much a 3" downpipe will support?

Stock block, GT40 heads, Explorer intake, 67mm, 10lbs, 431HP 497TQ on 110 octane. 12.01 @ 123

1 3/4" Primaries on the headers. Good for 1500+rwhp
2.5" Crosssover good for 1000+rwhp
3" Crossover good for 1500+rwhp
The biggest Down Pipe you can fit. I have done well over 800rwhp with a 3" DP. I prefer 4" DP on anything that will see over 15lbs of boost with a single Turbo. It will ease Back pressure issues. Twins and get away with dual 3" DP's.
