What transmission to use 600lbs torque

302 HCI turbo 525 rwhp and 531 lbs of torque.

Burned up a centerforce in a month and shreaded 3rd gear in my tremec tko 3550 on street tires no hard shifting.

What should I do now.....I would sorta like to keep stick but a nice 4 speed auto would be very temtping.

Car has a 3.27 gear and its mainly street. I would like to use the highway too.

Lentech AOD time.

Get good shifter and you can still bang gears, just no pedal work

TKO600 here. yet to bang gears on stickies. but i will find out in time.

i would put an Auto in that. more of a smooth rush of power and not as much boost drop between shifts cuz they shift so damn fast.

Automatic...
I love my 4r70w. I'm on the original 87k mile trans that came in the car, ( 01 GT) and have been putting down well over 600 ftlbs for the two years of daily use/abuse, and just lately over 700 ftlbs. It's still together and acting as it should. They are stout transmissions, if you want to have overdrive.

AOD or 4R70W. Built right they hold a lot of torque. Most local shops can build you a version to hold 600tq for much less than Lentech. You can also check out www.clickclickracing.com. There is a lot of info and tech articles over there. They can tell you what to do and where to get the parts for wholesale.

Your not terribly far from me. I can give you the name and number of the guy who does my AOD. Very reasonably priced and mine has been in the 9's, put over 600tq to the tires through it with the turbo and hope to throw more at it once the combo gets dialed in. I want to run 8's with it.

If OD is not a concern the TH400 is a great choice. Can get costly when you add the conversion parts into the cost as well. But you can get a STRONG th400 if you need one.

Good luck.

There is always a t56 if you wish to keep it stick. With an upgraded input shaft 600 lb-ft torque is easily harnessed. Matched up with a twin disc clutch and you are good to go. There are some other single clutches that will hold up as well. Clutch dynamics (I think that is the company) comes to mind. They have good prices as well from what I hear millhouse likes them. If your car is mostly drag I say go auto but mostly street, I personally like a stick. Everyone is different, get what YOU want. GL.

I have a clutch dynamics clutch and so far its holding up fine.

I do not want to put a another stick in and have issues.

You think a tremec tko 600 will hold up?

Damn turbos

tko600 can take a crap ton of abuse. people complain about its notchy shifting and high rpm shifts. but i don't think it is tat big of a deal.

took the trans apart and only the 3-4 gear slider is hurt, the rest looks great.

So i think we are going to fix her up and put it back in for the time being.

We had a tko 600 and switched to a glide, should have done it a long time ago. As far as the street without an od ?? with the 3.27 gear it was great. 2200/2500 at 65ish doesn't get much better than that.

Any thoughts on this transmission holding up and being a fun machine on the street?

I have an old stock C4 out of an older (60's) mustang. If that is rebuilt can that hold a lot of power? As for the 4r70w, can you get one from a junkyard and have them hold a lot of power or do you need to rebuild them? Also what about the stock mustang 5.0 AOD's?

The 1970 and later c4 is the one to use and if you can get a c5 it has some stronger parts and all the lube mods that you would do to a c4. it is very hard to find a really good valve body for a 1969 or earlier c4 and it also has a smaller input shaft. You can pick up a used c4 or c5 really cheap to build up

a firend is running a promotion tko600 that puppy will go in gear at 8200rpm if we want it to old 347 was reving this hight granted there no more syncro in the trans but it still can be driven on the street

331 laid down 415whp n/a whit the old combo know probably more like 425-440whp shifting at 7200-7600 its been holding running between a 250and 350shot right off the line

dont get a to agressif of a clutch go look on promotion web site where running the 750hp set up but its slipping bad now on the 350shot its about the limit of the trany and clutch set up but where still pushing it looking for 8.90 out of the car then will call it quits best so fare a 9.18 350shot and 9.30 250shot
