looking 4 pics of homemade single turbo 5.0's + more

looking 4 pics of homemade single turbo 5.0's

im looking to do a homemade single turbo set-up on my 82 fairmont,
stock 87 5.0 ho with a 5 speed and a maf converion on a speed den. hanrness with a custom tune.

i will probably just flip the stock headers and run a holset or something decent sized that i can pick up used to get keep cost down.
im not looking to put down crazy numbers just around 350-400.

H1E was $100 off ebay (lucked out there as it was still good)
Hotside to turbo - one $20 2.5" u-bend and the rest was scrap from the shop I worked at
Downpipe - $120 or so for the v-bands, 4-3.5" reducer and two 3.5" u-bends.

Most of the people getting rid of this stuff are running a drag only car, or a car the is straight line, drive it once in a while type cars.
You can easily build a setup that retains everything but the smog equipment. That stuff is hard to keep, although it is not impossible. If you have to deal with a tough I/M state, then be very careful what you take off.

My kit retained everything.....A/C, power steering, sway bar. Everything except the smog pump.

There's plenty of room to keep all accessories and sway bar using flipped shorties.

Running the a/c lines to the condenser gets a little tricky, but
you can make custom lines easy from online suppliers. All the fittings
and hoses are universal.

here are a couple of my 0.2.1 build while still in construction. I went with a simple log construction because I am using P heads and none of the shorties I have work.

odd problem: If building and wrapping headers, be sure to leave enough space to remove the spark plugs; I did not, so my next revision will include adjustments to the primaries/logs to allow plug changes without removing the headers.

I still have my front anti-roll bar (visible in second pic) but I do not have power steering (car had a manual rack when I bought it).
