My fox body T-70 turbo build...

Car currently has a freshed 302 with GT-40 iron heads, Explorer intake and "E" cam. Car runs good but needs a bit more. The build is somewhat special to me because it's my first one. I've owned a few cars before but this '88 is my first one that I've changed more then a few things on.

The actual build should start early Aug if i get the rest of the parts. I'm only missing the waste gate. The hotside it totally custom and being reused from previous owner's build (was on a 351). I have a set of 42#'s, LMAF (which will be used in draw-though), and a SCT chip.

My goal with the car is to see ~450whp on the stock block, which I don't think would be too hard. The end result is I want it to be a 10-second street car that I can just get in a drive and not really worry about it.

Well here are some currently pics of the car:

Some pics showing the h/c/i:

Parts pile:

I'm excited to say the least.

I like it. I love the suede paint(yes I know it isn't suede, but Ford faded) it keeps the car low profile.

I think your goals are very obtainable. I have a similar combo, but instead of the GT40 pieces I have TW heads and a Typhoon intake. I think your 450 hp will be easy with about 12lbs of boost. You should make about 250-270 now, and 14lbs for all intensive purposes will double your power, with each lb being worth roughly 20 hp. (all estimates understand) So double your 250 low end, and that 500-2lbs of boost meaning 460. Now make me a liar and make your 450 on 10lbs of boost! *L*

I love the sleeper look of your car, many people would overlook that car simply because of the paint condition.

Who's older notch is in the background? It has 5 lugs and looks like possibly slicks. Nicer looking paint too.

He can get 450 with 10lbs. Same exact combo except I used the stock cam.

Stock block, GT40 heads, Explorer intake, 67mm, 10lbs, 431HP 497TQ on 110 octane. 12.01 @ 123

Most people already do, then they realize what it's got and it's too late lol

Good eye, I've posted theses same pics and your the only one to notice the '86 Coupe. Baisclly, it's a 408T car that's fully built and going to see 800+whp..

His car is on the right. The left one is a 10 second n/a bracket car.

Decided to go with silver hi-temp paint instead of black:

All done.

Going to the rollers for a tune and dyno on monday. Shooting for 500whp. Street tune will be more friendly of course.

Yea, I will when I get the car back. It's at the builder's house now. I need to add a in-line fuel pump and a few other things still.

Not too shabby man! It really jumped hard at the end of the vid. Get the blowthrough and bring that bad-boy on STRONG.

It's interesting really.. cause it's currently half the boost I want to run lol

1st is pretty useless, 2nd doesn't really grip but you can pedal it, then 3rd you can mat it and it really starts to sing.

I'm thinking mid-end OCT I'm gonna go back once I get the parts installed. The tuner wants to push 14/15 psi for a race tune haha It was spiking around 16psi on the dyno due to a crappy boost controller (one of the problems) and I'm pretty sure it was breaking loose on dyno...

Basically, I need to get a good boost controller (already ordered it, Hallman pro kit), a additional fuel pump (going to run a inline, plus my 255lph in the tank), and change to a blow-though setup with the MAF. Currently it's in draw-though with a 90mm Lightning MAF, but when I get out of boost it's backwashing the MAF causing it to run super rich and stall (not fun when coming to a stop lol). So I'm changing to a PMAS MAF in blow-though setup. Currently, while in boost the car runs like a freight train, it's awesome.

Little bit more:

Hallman boost controller came in and is installed. Picked up a slightly used Vortech T-rex inline fuel pump, that should be here mid week or so. Once I get paid, the new MAF will be ordered and it LOOKS like I'll be back on the dyno the 19th of Oct. Want to see over 450whp, at the least.

Are you using a blow-off or pop-off valve that vents the air to the atmosphere? Most MAF cars don't like atmospheric blow-off valves because they discharge air that's already been metered, causing a rich condition.

A simple solution would be to use a recirculating blow-off vlave that returns the air back into the intake tract.

If you see what I posted, I'm using a BOV BUT have it recirculated back into the intake. When it dumps, it's backwashing the MAF.

Hmmm. Didn't see where you said you were using a recirculated BOV and never heard of MAF 'backwashing'. Rock on

Do you see what I mean now? When the BOV opens, it's pushing air back pass the MAF, causing it to go crazy.

Wow, I'd thought you had plenty of distance between where the BOV recirculates back to the intake track and the MAF.
