Bg kit..need help

I have a 3 inch cowl hood and mark 8 fan. I have 306 with a bg kit. Do I really need to heat wrap the downpipe? or will i'll be ok with it? I put some ceramic coating on it from advance auto/ autozone. and cured it but still haven't drove it or got it tune so I don't know how hot it will get under the hood. Its still on jack stands, needs a few more things completed before I take it to get it tuned.

It will be fine. Invest in an aluminum radiator before you wrap it up.

Do yourself a favor. Wrap it! I have the BG kit with the coating they put on. The coating does not keep enough heat from radiating in the engine compartment. A ended up wrapping everything except the header tubes. You will also definitely need to get a turbo blanket. It will make night and day difference. Wrap any wires or fuel line that is anywhere near the turbo pipes.

I have the BG ceramic coated kit, and even with wrapping it gets hot as hell. Wrap is fairly cheap so I would do it.

Does the wrap or blanket cause any warranty issues with B&G? I've had cracking issues with an old turbo setup on a srt4 caused by header wrap on mild steel.

do your self an even bigger favor and give swain tech a call get their white lightining coating. then the only wraps you will have to worry about is what you want for lunch. have it on my car and is cooler under hood than when stock.

plus it looks sick(i think)

BG only wants you to wrap the dp, everything else voids warranty

I'm not even going to fathom a guess as to how much that coating costs....

Really? Surprised that a blanket on the turbo would void the warranty since that is so common place on all tang kits that I was surprised see the kit did not include one.

I think he's talking about the wrap. Based on their response, I wrapped my DP and nothing else.

I dunno, he quoted this when he said it, which is why I asked:

Lightbulb FYI: Swain Tech Ceramic coating Prices

I called them this morning to get a price estimate for my BG hotpiping:

Both headers: $300
Cross over: $100
Turbo exhaust housing: $100
Down pipe: $150

Total: $650

It looks like nice stuff, but I can't afford that kind of money...I'll stick with Inferno heat wrap...it's good for 2000 deg continuous and 3000 deg intermittent...$100 for a roll of 2" x 50'. I've heard that this stuff doesn cause as many issues with metal fatigue and cracking as the cheaper wrap??
