Downpipe delima press bent(free) or mandrel bent($$$)

I have a budy that works at an exhaust shop. One of the guys there will make me a downpipe for dirt cheap, but the only problem is it is 3" and press bent (crushed). A local fabrication shop will do the downpipe is mandrel for about $150. With things the way they are I would like to keep my money for good gas, but I also want good performance. I know pick one.

How bad is crush bent on a 3" pipe if we keep the angles wide and as few as possible?

without a doubt, go with the mandrel bent. the diameter of the press bent really diminishes at the bend.

X 2 !!!

I take it one shop has a mandrel bender and the other a crush ??

I worked at a exhaust shop with a crush bender and what we would do is... buy mandrel bends and use the chop saw then weld it.. its NOT as pretty as a one piece with all the bends but it keeps the same size inside diameter through the whole pipe.

I have seen 2.5 in crush bends, that choke it down to 2.0 in a hard bend

Just measure 3x and cut once.. its really not as hard as it seems

NEVER do business with Sam Rivera AKA Sam Wilson.
