Going from 3.55's to 3.27's.... general questions
I have a question. My car has 3.55's and the mph is unusually low for my setup. I haven't used the 2-step yet, but am hoping this makes a huge difference. I see all of these cars running 118-120 or so with the same power my car's making. So far, I have it narrowed down to a few potential culprits. It may be ONE or ALL of these affecting the times. Again, I'm not near as interested in lack of ET as I am MPH, although I'm beginning to think on an auto turbo car, they're one in the same. So far the best the car has done in the 1/4 has been a 12.8 @106 @ 12#'s with a 1.92 60'. The car has a fresh built AOD and a TIGHT converter. I can only get to about 2000 rpms before it tries to powerbrake. Now, I KNOW that the tight converter is hurting my launch. But the other thing I'm concerned about is the lack of mph between the 1/8th mile mark and the end of the 1/4. The car only picked up 21mph. Seems REALLY low. As far as the tune, I've had 2 different dyno sessions and the car is making the power. @ 12#'s it makes 420/450tq. That should get me close to 120 in the 1/4 @ 3550 lbs.
SOOOO, the things that I think are contributing are:
Converter too tight? Need to get closer to 2800 rpm or so on the footbrake?
Need to get into boost sooner (read converter, or 2-step)
Need to launch on 2-step (BTW, I got it wired up and can make 2#'s @2000rpm.
Will going from 3.55's to 3.27's help "load" the car better and result in better mph?
