You get what you pay for. A turbo kit that costs $1500 WILL NOT have the same quality as one costing even $3000. The price is what it is for a reason. Cheap turbo, cheap materials, cheap craftsmanship and cheap quality control. If all you care about is costs...it's cheaper than hell. Just don't expect it to hold up as well as a more expensive kit produced outside of Asia. If long term durability is required...it's usually cheaper to spend the money first than to fix all the problems later.

Turbonetics, Garret, Precision, Limit Engineering and a number of other companies make good turbochargers, the most commonly seen online is probably Precision. As far as turbo kits while you do get what you pay for, some of the pricey kits come from crappy companies and sometimes even make crap to begin with. Seeing as you are so far away from most of these companies, I'd personally only deal with Turbo Technology Inc or Hellion, but that is just me.

Their have been several people who have had good luck with the ebay turbo kits, you will find more people posting good stories than you will find people posting bad stories. You will notice alot of mcdonald metallurgists talking about this steel vs that steel and which is better etc.

As far as turbos themselves Brian from BG(who is a god to the turbo community) told me that he would take a Master Power Turbo anyday of the week and even talked me out of upgrading my MP to a garret or turbonetics so take that as you will.

Personally I think the 1500 turbo kit is a really good deal, you could buy a "better" turbo kit for 3000+ so its up to you.

My advice is to do research on your own because you will have several people who have no actual experience tell you how bad the ebay kits are, and I wouldnt let them sway your decision.

Good Luck

Rich

BG kit is $2500, that's still pretty damn cheap and I'd rather use something proven then an ebay kit that doesn't warranty ####.

Odd, I just did quite a few months ago.. If I wanted it coated that can be done locally for $100. All I had to buy was a smalller K&N filter and a few bolts. I sprayed some ceramic coating from a local shop on it for now and plan to get it coated when I build a diff motor.

Of course if he had to warranty anything it would end up costing a small fortune just to get it back stateside then back to him.

Thats the ebay kit I was talking about. That kit will make GOBS of power, their is a possibility that due to lower quality materials that it will fall apart after time but I wouldnt hesitate to buy one.
