turbo blanket

Hey guys

How much heat did you notice was removed from installing the turbo blanket?

How about interior heat?

I would love to keep my car as cool as possible!

thanks for the input

They make a huge difference. I have the older VS racing unit. With the heat gun I had it would max out the gun at 650 degrees on the exhaust housing. I have not tried it with my 950 degree heat gun yet. But I have a feeling just driving around it would be close to maxing that out. If not maxing it out. This was with ceramic coating on the exhaust housing too. The outside of the blanket has a surface temp of about 325 degrees. And would cool very quick when compared to the bare housing. Buy one. They are very much worth it.

I already have a blanket, going to install it.

Any other tricks to reduce heat from the interior dramatically?

thanks!

ceramic coat every thing. Wrap every thing in DEI heat wrap. There is even heat reflecting sheets you can buy that you can apply to the firewall and floors. Just how much money, effort and aggravation do you want to put into it.

Just put mine on about 2 weeks ago. Drove the car about 15 miles breaking in the clutch not going over 4 grand, came home, parked car, sat for about 5 min, I made my friend put his hand on the blanket. He did not cry. I then tried it, I could hold my hand there for as long as I wanted to, amazing. Interior was not warm to me. I like my blanket, it's my best friend.

Crap! Even though my down pipe is wrapped and the spark plugs have boot protectors I still burned up a spark plug wire separator and that melted one of the spark plug wires and now I see a core. Are you running your wires UNDER your turbo headers? I ran mine on top. My blanket is still sweet.

I wrapped my downpipe (it is ceramic coated as well) and then I put on one of those heat blankets they sell on ebay.

I ended up making this set after I torched the first lol. It worked out well because I was able to buy the MSD crimp tool (Link) You can see that I used some aircraft tubing in there as well just to be safe.

The turbo kit that I purchased came with custom length plug wires. I thought they went on top of the headers, I melted one, when the new wire comes in I will make sure they are all run under the headers this time. Looking for the same tool to crimp with. Thanks.

Make friends with your local performance/race shop and make a few crimps in the store.
