I run the 2-core (1" cores) aluminum summit racing radiator. Kept my car cool last summer with a black magic fan. I am in the process of upgrading the fan to a mark 8 with a DCC controller.

Anything made by griffin or velocity turbo systems is great. I used to run a fluidyne until it leaked up top at a weld (it worked great when it was running). Fixed it and still need to sell it (forgot). And I had a ramchager setup. It cooled my 550rwhp fox just fine.

Have a Granatelli radiator in my vert.
Radiator link

Had a Mark VIII fan until it died on me the other week. Have a Taurus fan on it now. Does fine just on the low speed setting unless you get in heavy traffic. Planning on wiring up a manual switch to the inside of the car to flip it over to high speed in those situations. Hot to me is it in the middle of the stock gauge.

My dad just got an aluminum one off of ebay. Can't remeber the brand but it was one of the cheap ones. It had a warranty believe it or not. I was very impressed when it got here. I think definately an aluminum because like you I am down south and it gets extremely hot down here.

in my experience of tuning hundreds of cars, i have found out MOST cars are not under radiated, they are under fanned 99% of the time.

Reason I ask about the coolant is I had the same problem.

On a 80+deg day I was seeing around 210-215 on my temp guage. I drained all the coolant out and went with water/redline water wetter and about 15% coolant mix and now my temps are in the 180-185 range (more sitting on the 180 side).

BTW, I also have a mkviii fan with a vsc controller. I am switching though.....damn thing sucks alot of amps and screws with my car.

The fans are usually the problem. I know from experience that the stock shroud and fan are a pretty good combination.

I'll be running a 3 core aluminum rad that I got from Dave's mustang parts (I think that's where I got it? it was one of those new products in 5.0 monthly a few years back) with a Mark VIII Fan Trimmed, upside down & kicked all the way to the drivers side to fit and a VW temp switch in the water neck.

I should be up, running & tuned in a few weeks.....

Well I got my mark 8 fan installed, it blows so much air but the car still heats up.

The radiator is like 6-7 years old and has had several blow headgaskets mcnasty gone through it.
I guess I will just have to replace it.
I have heard people talk about the 31x19 summit radiator but the only one I found on summits site with those dimensions has the hoses in the wrong locations.

As far as coolant, I am runnign some but less than 1 gallon

On a side note, I do not hav emy deflector in place.. I ahd to remove it for the intercooler.

Been out of the game since 2011.. looking to get back in in 2019

Without it, cooling at freeway speeds is going to be nearly impossible.

Dumb question, but what temps does everyone think is acceptable? One guy stated 1/2 way up the gauge. I find myself watching my autometer gauge and when it goes over 190 i start worrying. But the factory t-stat is set to open at 195 and they generally run warmer than that. I guess what i'm asking is what temp should one start being concerned with? I know we are not dealing with stock type engines anymore but if we are seeing 200 degrees on the gauge should we be concerned? I work for a dealership and i know some of our cars run over 200 degrees before the fans even kick on!

200-210 is fine. Mine runs at 185 on the freeway and 195 in traffic (195 t-stat). My e-fan is set to kick on at 205 and off at 185…and it all functions perfectly. Running “too cool” can cause fit’s with the stock computer and cause you to run in open loop mode continuously.

Aluminum 2 core ( 1 inch each ) and stock fan and shroud. No problems yet but it hasnt gotten really hot here either

They say what goes up must come down but I ain't reached my cruising altitude.
Take a look at what I did but can you imagine what I'm about to do.

Im currently running a FAST system so my closed loop is a bit different. I can tell you tht when i used to try and keep the temps below 185 on the car i had fuel wash problems and the oil stunk with fuel after a short time. I think we sometimes want to keep our stang running cool but actually the run better with a little heat in them!

I still cant keep this car cool

I put the big summit radiator and the mark 8 fan.. took it on a 20 mile drive mix between stop and go and cruisign speeds 45+ and it got to 210...
Its too hot for my tastes and I know once I start flogging it its gonna get too hot and overheat.

I havent replaced the airdam yet
