intercooler

I have a pony down hotside and i am going to build the rest myself. If i'm only
running 8psi boost do i really need an intercooler?It's going on a 1988 5.0
with a ported cobra intake, performer heads and a stock cam.

I would. Even a meth kit just to lower your IAT's.

Intercooler wouldn't hurt especially if you want more room to work in for IAT on hot days and traffic.

I would definetly run an intercooler if you could.

On my normal street tune I only run 5-6psi and wouldn't run without it.

Assuming you have 93 octane....running without an intercooler shouldn’t be a problem. With that said, it’s easier to plumb everything now rather than later…..as you WILL be turning up the boost at some point.

There are plenty of turbo setups out there without an intercooler. You just need to tune accordingly.

But ultimately you may want one. Cold side plumbing is easier than hot side.

Decide if you are ever giong to turn up the boost. Think of it this way there are a LOT of supercharged guys running 20+psi without one. I was one of them! No meth either. Efficiency is key. But like many are saying plumb it now and get a cooler for what you think you are GOING to need in the future. Good luck!
