Lets see some 5 speed track times!

Just curious how fast some of you guys are running with 5 speeds? I am tossing around the idea of swapping to an auto for speed, I know turbo's love em'. Post your 60' and 1/4 mile times if you got them.

Here ya go!

I will say before-hand that I recently found out that I was bleeding off 4lbs of boost….or basically overworking my poor little turbo’s since the beginning of my install (the manifold was still seeing 8lbs, but the turbo's were pushing 12lbs!!!!!). This was also done with about 15minutes of cool-down time right off the freeway in mid 80* temps (after a 45min drive to the track). To top it all off, I had some issues backfiring on all runs after….which I attributed to a loose rotor tip in the dizzy (which eventually fell off completely!!!!). Because of this, my 2-step wouldn’t work properly which made launching nearly impossible!

Needless to say, I’m stoked to try it again now that all of these issues are resolved!!!

Until then, this is all I’ve got!

60' 2.0421
330 ' 5.1719
1/8 ET 7.6999
1/8 MPH 98.48
1000' ET 9.864
1000' MPH 113.08
1/4 ET 11.67
1/4 MPH 127.84

Went to the track once with the turbo setup last fall. I have a TKO with a DFX clutch. Made about 4 passes. My best of the day is below. Launching with no boost at about 5000 RPM.

60' - 1.60
1/4 - 11.10
MPH - 126.80

I am installing a 2-step soon and taking it back out. The car would bog slightly just after launching it. I think once I can build a few lbs of boost off the line I shouldn't have that problem anymore.

I have also considered switching to an auto, but I enjoy driving a manual to much. Plus I don't go to the track very often. The car is mainly driven on the street and I love banging the gears.

I'm going to the track for the 1st time Sunday, looking for high 11's. I have seen auto's break into the 10's with my combo. I like banging gears! Anyone running 10's with a turbo 5 speed in here?

It appears 10's through a 5 speed is not the norm.

Yes.

Stock T5 - Spec stage 3 clutch.

10.90 @ 128.9 on 8psi - MPT70

1.7 60ft. and shifting like a girl.

I've done some suspension mods this past winter and am looking for some easy 10.50's or faster when I get the car to hook. Plus, I'm going to add a little boost (12psi).

What's your combo, I know we talked before. I wonder how hard I can launch with the 3:55 and 255/50R16 M/T?

So if you guys saw a car run mid 8's trapping over 150+ with a 5 speed would you be very surprised??? I feel that person deserves way more respect than a guy doing it with a auto....

Don't get shook of a little bone stock 302 short block!!

i went 6.70s @ 99.9 mph with a stock 5 speed and a spec clutch would easily be 10's in the quarter. was a trickflow h/c/i on stock short block with a bg nitrous works plate.

10's should not be an issue with practice. When I went 11.10 that was my first time to the track with the new turbo setup and the first time I raced at the track in 3 years. A couple more runs that day I probably would have broke into the 10's.

Once I install the 2-step and dial it in it should be no problem.

I went 10.70s ten or more years ago with full weight gt. I didn't have slicks, it was so lazy for 60ft it didn't need them. It did have old dirt track housiers, though. No fancy injection, axles, just a 62-1 and FMU. Was fun to drive but I think an auto would have ran high 9's.

one question is what is everyone running for tires and suspension to get to these times?

I know in my 01 cobra with a straight axle and twin 61mm turbos with a 5 speed, 335 hoosiers on 17in rims, I went 10.8 at 143mph missing 4th gear

Hulk8950 went 10.22 with a face plated TKO and spec stage 3+ last year. Twin 60's with a stock bottom end. 1.50 or 51 60', I can't remember. That was on 27" ET streets.

I ran a best of a [email protected] with my 5 speed in the 1/8th.

Swapping only the auto got me down to 6.30'[email protected], only thing changed was tune for auto(lots more fuel). With minor changes and some upgrades my new best is in sig.

What tires were you on? Decent ET for the 60'. Get that launch down, and 11s are in the bag.

Hahahaha no ####. I feel the exact same way.

Supra and Viper guys have been running 8's/9's with manual trans for a while now. I think it's time some stangs start steppin' up and try to do the same. Hopefully that will be me next year

Brand new 255/50R16 M/T drag radials. Tried launching at 2k & 3k car spun and cut 2.32 60'. My guess is I need a 3:27 gear like everyone told me I'd need. Hitting 5800rpm at 1/4 mile. I cut my best 1.85 60' by leaving at idle.

Millhouse, I was hoping for high 11's. The temp was in the high 80's, so I'm there. This was my 1st track attempt in a modded car, so Im certain mid 11's are possible.

Next time I will have a 3:27 gear and the 2 step hooked up! Also, plan to have upper & lower control arms.

Keep in mind I'm still running the 17 year old stock clutch. Engine is completely stock except the gt40 heads and explorer intake.
