making my own headers.

Has any one here done it? I was going to use a flipped around set of shorty's but am just tossing up the idea of making my own headers.

Making your own even in mild steel will be expensive. First you need a heavy duty flange. Then you will most likely need a couple exhaust donuts to get the tight radius bends. They are great to have when building headers. But they are not cheap either.

Exhaust donuts have the CLR (center line radius) that is the same as the diameter of the tubing. So a 1 5/8" diameter will have a 1 5/8" CLR. As tight as a bend as you can get.

The flipped motorsport shorty header has been proven to work well. And Shane Hill and others say a good 1 5/8" header is good for about 200fwhp per cylinder. So you should be fine with them.

Wow, very nice. So you did the whole setup yourself? That is what I'm planning on doing for the car I'm building now. How much do you think you got into it?
