thats what happens when you put all that time and money in there. I've got a stock short 302 that makes 600 rear wheel on nitrous. so far so good. By the looks of your bearings and cylinder walls, you had more problems then just the block. IMO you killed it with the tune up.

Your right Erich this happened a while ago, just pulled the motor on Sunday to inspect the damage.
I ran this power for quite a while before this also(2-3 years)
all the bearings and cylinders looked fine except around where it blew.
3rd main is cracked also.
Heads look ok from the bottom- haven't took them off yet.
it blew around 4500rpm, not crazy noise.
raced an R6 bike the day before and munched it(roll on at 60)

plans are a Boss block with you guessed it --- 302 cubic inch, stock cam, ported heads & intake.

I've been off the board for a while but the bug for hp is bitting again!!!

After that motor, I thought there was NO WAY you could not build another one. The boss block is a nice deal.

had shift light set at 5000 or 5200 so around 5400-5500 by the time I shifted. rpm limiter was at 5800 so there was no high revs on this block.
Maybe why it lasted so long.
last time I was out it went 131mph in the quarter.

i have blown stock motors thus far. first one went at the end of the season and 625+ hp constantly beating it. finially bent a rod and look out the bottom end, oddly enough at ~4500rpm. the second one blew because i had a bad balancer and it spun off the snout. you certainly have WAY more damage then i had with both motors combined.

btw how great does it feel to yank bikes especially the 1000's

90 lx 5 speed... 10.5 @ 136 stock bottom end and cam... ford junk !

I hate how if you want to upgrade your block you're spending about 4k between the block, machining, and all the other odds and ends. Thats horrible.

Yikes, that's a mess!

Makes me worry about my stock block again. I tried to put that out of mind.LOL

I've been running 15-16 psi for a year or so on the street. I plan to lower the boost this spring, before mine splits too...can't afford the good block/etc right now.
