blowing thru convertor.

how do i know if im blowing thru my convertor? made some changes to the car and had a new dyno tune. swaped rearends (3.73) i know i need 3.27. and went from a 5spd to a redneck c4 with a supposed 2800-3200 stall. and also a 26" tire. my tuner says my convertor is real loose but will be an animal at the track any ideas. mp70 w/ hci 302.
this is also w 12lbs boost, 110 fuel and 16 degrees timing?????

HCI w/ 12lbs and 110 gas, you should be way over 400 whp. You should be pushin 475+, so yeah...I would say something is wrong. Go to the track and get us some times.

exactly. i was thinking 500 would be easy? i noticed peak power was at 5500 and it seems like it should pull way beyond that. hopefully going to milan dragway sat if it dosent rain.

don't worry too much about your dyno numbers till you see what it does at the track.

16 degrees total with 110 is very low. or is that all your car could handle? typical combo will safely and easily run 22-25+ with 110. that could be a difference of easily 8 mph in the topend. i run 18 total on pump and i'm sure i could get away with 21 like i used to tune my sc cars. at the track i run 22 total with a splash of 110.

goodluck at the track.

I believe the car is blowing through convertor or some slippage in the tranny. It should have made more power down low.

you got a safe tune so why not. do you have a msd box? if not you might want to get one, more rpm would be intake or camshaft. The turbo kit isn't the restriction what intake, tb , and ignition parts do ya have?

Your HP is pretty steady after 5500rpm. It holds nicely till about 6100-6200rpm. Looks like a nice HP and TQ curve to me across the board. I would say the cam is done at that point. I wouldn'y worry about dyno #'s. How does it run on the street?

I am playing with the timing in my car, although it is s/c but at 11 psi I have safely run 22 total timing on 93 pump gas,I started at 18 total and the car picked up 10 mph just upping the timing 4 degrees, was not brave enough to try any more timing, still no detonation present with plug check at 22 degrees.

I also was blowing through my convertor,it would leave real hard but would run out of gear real fast, for instance with 3.55 and mt dr 325-50's my car would be on the rev limit at 6,200 with 123 mph car would 1.5 60 ft and run 10.80's,I had the convertor redone, and now the car 1.6 60ft and run 10.80 today at 126 mph at 5,800 rpm's
hope this helps you

i think my timing is still to low but not sure on my convertor still. last sat it ran 11.25 @ 122 bouncing off the rev limiter on the big end. the combo of a 26" tire and 3.73 gears is really killing me with a c4. have some 28's and some 3.27's going in next weekend and well see if it does any better. then i might add some timing. o and that was with a 1.81 60ft. even without touching timing it should run easy ten's.
