89 Notch 306 B&G hotside custom coldside MPT70

89 notch
Engine specs:
306 with Fcam, Trick Flow Twisted Wedge heads, TFS 1.6 RR, TFS 18cc dish pistons, Vic Jr intake, 650dp carb
Fuel system:
A1000 through -10 feed/return and A1000 regulator
Ignition:
Crane HI-6 with TRC boost retard and optical pickup distributor with dial-adjustable advance curves
Power adder specs:
EV hat, 3" coldside through a VS Racing 4" core intercooler, B&G hotside, Master Power T70 with a 3.5" DIY downpipe, X02 44mm v-banded wastegate with 6# spring for shakedowns, then to the 15# spring.
Chassis:
QA1 coilover and k-member front kit, Pro3i lowers, Baseline uppers, QA1 adjustable shocks, 4 cyl rear springs, subframes, torque box reinforcements
Drivetrain:
4R70W with Lentech full manual valvebody, Edge 3000 stall lockup converter, 31 spline axles and Exploder trac-loc
Power steering, AC, and overdrive

First startup was yesterday...sounds mean with the Fcam through a single 3.5" exhaust. That dp was a beeotch to fit past the headers, accumulator, starter, bell, etc....but it works and it fits. Put a vband right by the #4 primary so that I can remove the section of downpipe to access the plugs. To top it off, it was made out of some leftover diesel exhaust :welder:

Mounting the VS Racing intercooler was a beeotch as well considering I was keeping the condensor and mounting two 6" fans behind the intercooler where the actual bumper blocks the top half of the intercooler....had to hack up the already fugged up LX bumper cover I had to make it fit. Later I will transition to a GT or Saleen style cover.

Now I just need to finish running the exhaust to the rear of the car, plumb the wastegate, figure out what I am going to do about an air filter, relocate to regulator from the strut tower to the firewall so it is not right on top of the header, tie up the odds and ends and she should be rolling! No more non-running turbo stang! Hopefully I will get pics soon, I just need to find my camera charger...
Jesse

Got the intercooler pipes fabbed, ran the exhaust almost to the crossmember, relocated my regulator to the firewall and tied up some loose ends. Even at idle and revving the car no load, that turbo moves some air...I can't wait to really make her sing! Just putting the pipes on and giving the engine that little bit of air REALLY improved the idle and sound when I revved 'er up.
To do list:
Find some 3.5" pipe to finish my exhaust, plumb wastegate, vacuum lines, reattach front clip, figure out what to do about an air filter/intake.
One step closer!
Jesse

Me too, that is what the supercharger liked. I will also step down if these prove to be too high or my mph is too high.

Added a couple more feet to the exhaust, now I am at the tailshaft of the trans. I need to figure out how to hang the pipe to get the weight off the turbo before I add the long section of straight I have (and then I am out of 3.5"...anyone have some old 6.0 diesel exhaust laying around?). Also attached the front clip. Tomorrow I will be replacing the junk stamped steel valve covers with stock drilled ones to stop the leak I have. I also decided to vent the wastegate to atmosphere for now...got lazy, maybe I'll do it tomorrow, anyone else run theirs this way?

Got the exhaust to the axle...no way it's going over it...Finished up the vacuum lines and put on the new valve covers. Took it out for a spin and am battling some overheating issues that might be t-stat or intake gasket related.
If intake gaskets are installed upside down (on the correct side just with the tabs up) will it cause excessive pressure?
