well im just thinking that even the smallest piece of anything will cause a rough spot in really tight clearances. who knows, an eyelash could have fallen from your face and lodged itself into the bearing or something... far fetched but you get the idea.
i would plug the drain and fill the case with oil, spin it by hand multiple times back and forth to see if it helps.
