03 taurus SES

Hey, I was just wondering if the 03 ford taurus with the 24valve dual over head cam motor was similar to the mustang v6 and if any of the parts were interchangeable.

They're about as related to each other as Paris Hilton and Al Sharpton are. Nothing in common. Completely different engine families, completely different types of engines. Pretty much the only thing they have in common is the number of cylinders.

Not that I know of. Most of the taurus enthusiasts are SHO guys, so not many people are out there tweaking the duratec. Maybe google will point you in the right direction

Do a search for the 99+ cougar forums. There is one club out there. It starts with an N, something like NATC or something. There are links on that page to parts companies.

Yeah the 3.0 from the cougar and Taurus is the same 3.0 that was in the SVT Contour. My brother in law had a SVT intake manifold on his Cougar. He also had the SVT throttlebody.

These are the SVT parts/differences between the SVT 3.0 and the regular 3.0 motor... Although not all SVT parts will work on the Taurus.

Changes to the camshaft include a longer duration and a complete change in valve timing points.
Higher compression: 10:to1(SVT) vs 9.7(normal)
PCM was more aggressively tuned and required premium fuel.
Larger throttle body (60 mm vs 54 mm). Lifted from the 3.0L Duratec.
Intake manifold and primary intake ports smoothed by ExtudeHone.
SVT-Clutch.
A water to oil, oil cooler to keep control of oil temperatures during performance driving.
A radiator with a thicker core for better cooling(lifted from Saudi models).
Different air filter and intake (cone style using same air filter as V6 Mustang).
A lighter flywheel(from 21lbs to 19lbs.)
A larger-diameter, quasi-dual exhaust.

88 Mustang GT (AOD)(Speed density) **SOLD**
Full exhaust, and 3:55 gears, Homebrew AOD,
Best E.T to date 14.02 @ 98.7

The 3.0L duratec never found its way into the cougar or contour. Both cars used the 2.5L duratec (as the optional, with the 2.0L being the base engine). The SVT contour had the decked out version of the 2.5, with changes listed above.

If you find a cougar with a 3.0L, it wasn't factory installed
