200 I-6

hey guys, just wondering if anyone here has ever messed around with a straight 6.
I've got an 80 capri and was thinking about giving it some stank instead of the usual 302 swap.
Any ideas? they make aftermarket cams and headers etc for the thing and
2.3L pistons fit to give you a comp of about 10:1.

Thumbs up

Wow that is more than awesome.

I Just recently (Friday) acquired a 1980 Capri as well!!!!

200cid I6, has a header for it, likely going on tomorrow, I was planning on looking for an intake and carb setup to see about a couple of extra HP, I didn't know the 2.3 pistons would fit...

I'm in the process of painting it now, I got paint for 2 red center stripes and black for the rest. Since most cars are red with black stripes.

Feel free to share any informative sites because I searched for about 30 minutes and couldn't find many upgrades for it

I have been looking more toward the 302 swap but I figure I need to gather up about 1200 for a wrecked fox.

Haven't been to this forum since awhile back when I totalled my 92 LX 5.0

I thought I saw a while back where someone had built an I6 and with a turbo they were closer to 700hp. That would be interesting.

honestly, I cannot imagine it is worth the trouble of those motors. You would have to get your hands on a australian head that has the intake manifold seperate from the head. As you have probably already seen, the stock intake manifold has huge distribution issues. I have seen one guy over on stangnet that cut out and tap/drilled to put 3 2bbls on it. One where the carb sits now and the two others at the ends (#1 cylinder and #6).

I am not sure on the pistons as I thought the 200s had a 3.68" bore. I believe 255s were 3.68" and the 2.3s are 3.8"

Probably one of those that is better to swap in a 302. I ditched my 200 that was in my 66 falcon because I got tired of flooring it to get out into traffic.

I have always thought that with an Aussie crossflow head they have a lot of potential.
